A couple nights ago, I went "raccooning" (garbage pickup) and commandeered a dresser cabinet, interior dimensions are 47 1/2"H x 27 1/2"W x 14"D..

Things I Have:
-Soil; 50% Miracle Grow Potting Soil, 50% Perlite
-Power Cords/Light Sockets, 5x 150w
-24hr Timer, 1750w, 125v A.C.
-Surge Protector
-(currently) 1x 42w WallyWorld CFL (Purchasing 150w HPS system soon) Should be good for the first two weeks..

***Problems:
-I removed the drawers, however, it doesn't have a floor.
-There's a small hole in the bottom left of the cab's back.
-I don't have a door yet. But I saved the drawer fronts, I want to mask the cab a bit.

**Possible Solutions:
-I can prob raccoon some more and find large pieces of wood from various other cabs, maybe a better cab, lol, and use it for a floor and a front (I need a door)
-I kept the drawer faces by the way.. for a fake front.
-The hole in the back would prob be for the surge protector cord.

I know I need to paint the interior flat white or get emergency blankets (mylar).. and I plan on the HPS light by mid of May, and I know the cfl's will work till then.
I'm just going to do soil grow, let it grow normal, top it of course.. but no special training methods or anything, or at least I don't plan on it.

One prob I am having is I germ the seeds and when I put them in the soil, pre-moistened (not drenched).. the white tail down.. they don't grow.. any advice?

Any recommendations?

Hey ReallyHi,

How long is the tail when you plant it? I've had the best luck when it is at least 1/2 inch long and then I put it in a JIFFY pellet. It's one of those hockeypuck looking things that you soak in water until they swell up. The nice thing about using them is when the roots start growing out through the side of the thing, you just make a big enough hole in your soil and plant the whole thing. Also use SUPERTHRIVE (1 drop per cup) in the water, use lukewarm not cold water, and if you're using tap water let it sit for at least a day so the chlorine dissapates. Hope that helps.
