Where can i buy one of those 'adapter things' to hook up a fan to an outlet? I remember reading a while back you can get one from some things if you have them around the house, but my friend would rather just buy one, if you can. Thanks.

any ac adapter from 7.5vdc 700ma to 12vdc 300ma will power several fans

Heya there's another option, which is to just say to hell with computer fans and go poke around walmart... since it is now spring they have all the cheap small fans on display and I TOTALLY stocked up on the 5" metal high-velocity fans for my grow. $5 each. Can't beat that.
