ok, i cracked 6 nirvana northern lights seeds in tap water

put them in organic miraclegrow soil, and added quite a bit of perlite

in 16oz Styrofoam cups in which i cut holes in the sides and bottom, drainage seems good

i flushed the soil before planting, so it's thouroughly wet.

question is:

1. how much should i water? once a day? once every few days? i have them under 3x26w 6500k cfl's running 24/7 at the moment, and they don't put out too much heat

2. how long should it be till i can expect them to break the soil? a week? two?

once they get going for awhile i'll put a lot more light on

thanks

so far i gotta say i'm happy; i got 10 seeds, all seem viable and solid, dark brownish, stripes and spots. i germinated 6 and they all cracked nicely, so i'm hopeful that i might get most or all of them to get going

i think i just have to be sure not to drown them with water, yes?

i'm also a little worried i used too much perlite. when i dumped the seeds in their little depression in the soil they were surrounded by mostly perlite. i hope this won't be a problem. i'd say my mix is 60/40 soil/perlite

thanks, i'm excited and nervous, but getting them all to crack gives me some confidence :) ;)

water them when the top of the soil is dry. but seeds only need a very small amount! Over watering is a common problem! so water less than u think you need to! :)
