What is it nowadays with bashing the bible? Its either cool to hate it or uncool to beleive in it. There are so many people out there that seem to think that they have grounds to dispute whats in the bible when most of them havent even read it?! People only take in what theyve heard and parrot it out and then they think that thats some kind of argument agaisnt somebody whos actually read the bloody book and know what theyre talking about?

parts of the bible contradicts other parts of the bible, example- in genesis theres two accounts of creation which contradict each other in the order of those things created. there are many more contradictions within the bible just look.
i dont hate the bible because i just think its a work of fiction, it is however a dangerous one at that for those who take it literaly and become radicals and use it to exuse hatred and violence.

I also find it funny theres proberbly a musslim Kid Dynamite out there with just as much faith as you and belief he is right except he puts his faith in the koran not the bible.

The idea of evolution has as many or more holes in it than the creation story...Such as the missing evolutionary links, and disputes over OOL. The bible also has many problems because over the over translation, and much of it is word of mouth. The Big Bang theory also has many problems such as it breaks lsome of the theories of relativety, and physics. Some christians even believe that god just put evolution into action. True, but did you know that the all the languages of Egypt and the middle East share a common ancestry? Especially names, just think of Abraham and Ibrahim, Solomon and Suleyman, and I'm sure there are many others. Besides, as legend would have it (even this is being disputed), the Isrealites spent many a generation in bondage in Egypt, so it wouldn't be surprising if each language had a strong influence on the other.

Don't know about disproven, I think its been abandoned for the most part though as physicists are working out a "theory of everything" aka "String Theory" which includes 11 dimensions and something about everything being made up of 'strings' which are now believed to actually be branes(membranes)...i used to know a bit more about it but the drugs sorta took care of that.

It turns out that when you have all the matter in the universe compressed into a space so small as the big bang states the laws of physics begin to break down. Do a google search you'll probably find out a lot more than I could post here.

We don't think we have a better life as Christians infact the bible tells us if we are Christians and follow the Bible we will most likely have a harder life. My proof:

Although the US is labeled a Christian Nation we Christians get persecuted for everything. Just look at the election this year. Red States. We Chrsitians don't even go by those rules because Christ Jesus set us free from them. But thats a different topic. Christians don't have it bad, but we do get singled out a lot more then any other religion out there. Heck we get blamed for the Crusades, Witch Hunts, etc. But no one ever talks about the other sides or the people that weren't Christians doing the samething. Go through and look at all the post here in the Spiritual section. Look how many people talk bad about Christians and are so intolerant of our beliefs. We get called stupid or retarted because we believe in God. But people can believe in what they want and can't prove but it's only the Christians that get attacked. Why? Ok my rants over. BUT i have read the bible and i often read on any other religion that interest me. Because my mind is weak? yeah im sure thats why. Sorry i was just a little pissed off by the ignorance of others. I especially get pissed when they try to call others ignorant. Anyway my thoughts on the main question are that for most people in the US who arent christain and people who even are christian know that the bible has many flaws in many parts of it. The people with weak minds i will use larry as a shinning example, hear things at school or on tv then want to feel like they know somthing so they try to start an argument with facts that were given to them by people with just as weak a mind. It is sad but its life, every one wants to be able to join in a conversation so when somthing like god or the bible come up its easy for people to say "the bible is stupid" just because a bunch of other idiotic people have said it before. Now dont get me wrong the bible is rediculous.To base your entire life off of, and believe in a mighty omnipotent power that governs life and everything in it is in my opinion unintelligent. On the other hand i do believe the bible is a good book that has alot of good views on how people should live their lives to better the lives of every one. I have read the bible though and talked with many people on this subject before i came to this conclusion. And i am still always willing to accept the fact that there might be a god. I sincerely believe that we all have the right to make our own decisions on what works for us. That said, ya know me, I try to be a decent person. Yeah I happen to be Christian. Does that make me less of a person? Would I be less of a person if I were Buddhist? How About if I celebrated Native American Traditions, or Wicca? Prejudism is prejudism, there are a lot of great people here, their differant ideas, traditions and beliefs are what makes them interesting. I enjoy discussion, it broadens the mind. Well I am a minister so I have knowledge of my beliefs. I was a captain of an 85 ft houseboat named the Pide Piper. So I have knowledge of driving a large boat and knowledge of water ways. I am a screen play writer so I have knowledge of writing and some language. I am a father so I have knowledge of being a parent and a gaurdian. I am a husband so I have knowledge of what women look fo in a man and how to treat right the one you fall in love with. I've worked in hotels for six years so I have knowledge of the hotel business and people skills needed in it. I wasn't always a nice guy so I have knowledge of crime. B/E, G/T, A/R. I was a fighter in my day so I have knowledge of self defense and worse knowledge of the body (easiest way to break bones).

I could go on and on about the knowledge I pocess but that would sound like I'm bragging so I have knowledge of when to stop what I'm saying and listen to others.

You see in order for someone to make fun of another person that someone must learn about the other person in order to determine what would be funny to say about the person. Since people are laughing at me then they have read what I've written. So, what I wanted to be done is being done. People like yourself are reading about God/Jesus. That is my job. Hi Juggalo, gotta give ya props for doing your research and questioning things that seem to be contradictory! Excellant. Proverbs 26:4 and 26:5 are passages that I had found puzzling. It was explained to me by a wonderful older lady I knew in this manner: If someone is irritating (being an ass), do not answer them in the same manner or you will appear as being on the same intellectual level you find irritating in them. If a person is expressing as fact, their opinion, (and you know that fact is incorrect), then answer them seriously with the correct info so that they will not be sure (smug) thinking they know more than they really do.
Proverbs is like a book of life lessons and practical advice. It is written in a sometimes hard to understand way. When I was young we would be given a passage to memorize and contemplate. we were expacted to think about them and try to understand the advice given therein.

Larry, you say this "Bible is for weak minded people" and have no grounds behind it. I have read some of the bible, now I dont take ALL of it into consideration. Like it's been stated earlier, Man wrote the bible, and God knows how many times it has been revised. Plus, the bible isnt meant to be taken literally, you have to read between the lines and disect what they're saying.
