...just started some skunk#1, mostly for breeding purposes as it seems to be pure strain...so would like some feedback on the strain...easy to grow?...flowering time, i am a bit concerned about the apparently long flowering time..and hows the end product?
...i would like to begin crossin em with other pure strains to obtain differnt f1 hybrids...any recommendations?
thank you all so much

if it is from sensi here's what they say
FLOWERING: 45 - 50 DAYS
HEIGHT: 120-150cm
YIELD: up to 100g
The strain that changed cannabis culture and has astonished weed lovers for more than a quarter-century is now available as a feminised variety!
The potency of this branch of the cannabis family tree is so notorious that 'skunk' is often used as a term for any powerful ganja. Breeders regard Skunk #1 as the benchmark of uniform, reliable performance and her rock-solid genotype has influenced a hundred modern hybrids. Skunk #1's energetic performance and bountiful yields demonstrate the true meaning of hybrid vigour. Growth and flowering are mostly-Indica in appearance, though Skunk plants gain more height than pure Indicas when blooming.
Flowering is very fast and Skunk #1 produces robust stems and branches to support her superior yields. Short internode gaps explode into dense, rounded bud-clusters which merge into huge, heavy colas by harvest time.
Skunk #1's Sativa genes have a subtle effect on flower structure plus a wonderful influence on her effect - a stunningly potent combination of stone and high!
the mother i choose from my packet of seeds finishes in 53 days but i wait till most of her glands have changed colar

I'm interested in this strain as well, but I've heard it's prone to mold during the last few weeks of flowering. Have any skunk #1 growers had problems with that?

yes, ive heard that it is susceptible to mold, but usually only under outdoor conditions that are soggy...indoors it shouldnt be a problem with proper ventilation....

30 days in the hole:thumbsup:
hehe, I was trying to bury a thread I didnt want attention drawn to so I put some ... in a thread that hadn't been used in a while - you busted me!! ;)
But I am interested in the strain...all of the early (surviving) og landrace strains really.
Hopefully you'll get some good breeders out of it sparky!

Hm I wouldn't consider skunk#1 a land race but it IS a very old strain, and breeds true, which is why I've got some going atm myself.
The inital work was done in Vermont on it back in I believe the 70s, then taken to Cali, then to Holland.
Oh sure! Try to claim it for Vermont! Heh, jk.
Youre right of course, it ceased being a landrace once they crossed it. Being that it has Columbian Gold as well as Mexican Gold genetics is what draws me to it....I absolutely loved the Columbian from the '70's. How is it for stretch & height?

Well, i've had some toxic salt build up problems so the leaves looked jacked but the buds are looking good at week 5 of flowering...i love this plant u can beat the hell out of it and the buds just keep getting bigger...hope she heals but boy she keeps on swelling irregardless...1st grow indoors and she is definitely a keeper...they say its old school but its mighty sticky

nice !!!:stoned:
Stinky , I'm curious as to how that smells, I haven't seen any in years . my mentor used to grow that years ago (20?) and it smelled SKUNKY. But I have read that it doesn't smell like a skunk anymore (sweet smelling now). just curious

Lido, mine are still not even sexed yet but I will keep yall posted on how it smells. I have heard and read the same thing, that there has been a lot of sweetness bred into it over the years. I am most concerned with its value as a hardy plant that is appropriate for my climate, and has good structure for indoor use too.

well tomorrow will be the beginning of wk 7 for my skunk #1 (pictured above)...it does have a little skunk smell to it when u enter the room but the fruitiness of the smell is much stronger...growing mine with no filter for smell or anything and u can barely catch a glimpse of the smell in my house...occasionally i'll catch a drift when my a/c kicks on but its smells rather fruity with a lite skunk aroma...i was nervous myself but it smells more like berry bubble gum to be honest

skunk#1 pics!!!
It's the ones with the broadest leaves in the pic. MMMMMM happy babies! They don't know that they are gonna get hacked up for clones in about 2 weeks MWAHAHAHA!!!
Yes I know that the most recent growth is stretched; that was intentional, I wanted to space the nodes out so they would be easier to take cuts off. What I did was vegged them to ~5 nodes under a T5, then topped them ans threw them under a MH250 to stretch the new growth to the point where I could get a string around it and bend the tops almost down to the ground.

I'm another with some Skunk #1 on the go just now. When I was reading up on strains & seeds at the start it seemed like a good strain for a beginner.

Hey Curious,
I had the same problem with smell when the AC came on. Put one of those whole house air fresheners on the filter for the AC. All kinds of flavors. About $4.00 at Home Depot/Lowes.

I'm just finishing some Skunk. It wasn't advertized as Skunk #1 though. Just some seeds I got from peakseeds. And the smell is pretty sweet, not so skunky. The leaves have been weird. Early fans were short and wide, indica looking, but later growth became more long and thin, sativa looking. Lot of fan leaves dropping off now that it's nearing death, kinda narly looking. But the buds look great.
