I just posted a thread in Pets, about finding my cat dead this morning. I called work and told them my cat just died and I would be late because I have to bury him and search the house to see if there is something that could have poisioned him. The manager, who I have already had problems with huffs and asks how long. I told him I'm not sure.
"Well if you have to guess."
"2-3 hours" (I live an hour away)
*with an attitude* "Well can you get here sooner than that?"
Now they can kiss my ass, I'm taking the whole fucking day off! I'm I over reacting here, or do I have a right to be pissed when I manager gives me an attitude because my animal just died?
I'm going to lay down.

With a manager like that I wouldn't want to work for them.

your manager=your boss= your job= your money=piss off the manager to much= you will have none of the above.
I work under a nazi regime of zero tollerance.
5 points and your gone!
1 point for a full day and 1/2 point for a 1/2 day.
even with a doctor excuse you miss you get points.
the points come off after a year.
If you piss off the man, the man will take a big dump on you, mostly managers are power and control freaks that get off on your agont and misery and love to add to it.
*Rant*

He is on of 7 managers. On top of that he is only an assistant manager. Fuck em. I will talk to the store manager on monday, and see what she says. Plus most of the other managers there dislike him as well and will most likely stick up for me. I'm not all that worried. I'm a good employee and they need me. It is nice having a bit of job security.

When my cat died two summers ago, I called in sick three days in a row. The creature was 20 years old. You got every right. Go find some poison IVY and rub it on something only manager touches.
Losing a pet is harder than losing a relative sometimes.

Thanks man, I honestly thought 2-3 hours after losing and burying a pet was very generous of me. If he would have just faked a little sympathy I wouldn't be so furious, but the fucking asshole didn't even say anything about it, only when are you coming.
Like I said, I will talk to the store manager monday and explain the situation. If you are a manager of a resturant you should have people skills and be able to at least fake sympathy.

I'm very sorry to hear about your cat, I've got 6 cats and I would be very upset if any of them died. Your manager was being a prick. You are not overreacting.

It's a sunday, and their is a festival going on nearby my work, we are usually under staffed and I had to call out two days during the week because of a viral infection. (I was covering someone elses shift's who is no longer with the company.) I figured I would be mature about this, suck it up, and go in to work a few hours late. Not anymore though. I tried to be nice and had to deal with this ass. So now I am taking the whole day off.

The manager sounds very unsympathetic, therefore assholish.
