Hey people,

Time to wish you all farewell. Got to retire this handle and the associated e-mail addy and all that. Getting into season now and I can't be posting about personal experiences at least until after November. I will be right back with a different name and some will recognize me but I won't be commenting or confirming any connection. For the next few months I'll still be reading and occasionally posting suggestions or comments but not anything relating to personal activities. At the most I'll mention things like " I used to do this or used to do that". Used to may mean 10 yrs ago or could be 5 minutes ago, ya never know.

I would like to thank all those you have given me usefull suggestions and those who have given me pleasant conversations and thoughtfull debate over the past 6 months. I would like to thank nitepharmer, keeko, go away deer, stinky, madeline and all the others who's name I can't think of right now.

Its time to delete all incriminating handles, and e-mails and then to clean up this dirty computer. As part of this last post I'll define some of the steps I will be taking to clean up this thing below. This is something I recomend everybody do from time to time. Especially if you have posted anything about growing or other possibly illegal activities. Or, if you have sent or recived incriminating e-mails or if you want to cover tracks in terms of what sites you visited and when etc.

First, after shitcanning all related handles, names and e-mails I will wipe this thing as best I know how. The idea is to completely alter and destrow the existing File Allocation Tables and write over the existing data as much as possible making it extremely difficult if not impossible for any LEO to gain anything from it if this box were to ever be examined. Next step is to reinstall the OS. While re-installing, I will first completely delete all partitions on the drive. Then I will recreate a partition for the OS of slightly different size than it was before. Then I will low level format it and then reinstall the OS. I will go through this process at least 3 times. Each time I will use a slightly different partition size and between each shot I will completely delete all partitions. Also I will use at least 3 different OS versions. After doing all that I will create one more partition making sure its again a slightly different size and then reinstall the OS I want to use going forward. I know sounds like a big PIA but really only takes a few hrs of clicking and switching CDs. I usually have it going while I'm doing other things like working out or something. I do this about every 6 months.

The last thing that I do about once every year and a half or so, just to make absolutely sure, is I get rid of the drive completely and start over. Drives are cheap these days, lawyers are not.

I don't claim to be the all knowing technical expert here, so if anybody has any comments or suggestions on more effective ways to more thoroughly clean a box, please speak up as I will still be reading this board.

GOOD LUCK WITH 07 People!

Bye Bob...but by going into all of this all you are doing is drawing more attention to yourself. Perhaps it might have been better if you just quietly went about your business instead of the monologue,
It kind of reminds me of the spy movies where the bad guy who gives up his plans to destroy the world to the good guy he thinks he's about to do away with, ya know?
