on the weekend at night when i climb onto the roof and smoke the light (bic) is pretty loud especially if my mom isnt watch t.v.
do they make quite lighters.

Why don't you do what I do, and take a magnifying glass.... preferably at least a 15 foot diameter Fresnel lens... and use that to concentrate the energy of the moonlight on the buds in the hollowed out apple you are no doubt smoking out of... your mom won't hear a peep until you slip and lose your balance under the weight of it and end up kicking up your 14 year old heels in her azalea patch....
But as far as a source of ignition is concerned, it's SILENT.

I think I know what you mean. If I'm smoking with parents home, and I'm high, I am sometimes scared that my lighter is really loud, but don't worry about that shit man, it's seriously just in your head, she can't hear it, and if she can, there is no way she can recognise it for what it is.

Bics aren't loud. I think it's in your head. Zippos are a bit quieter, but more exepensive, or you can use a candle. Now matches, those are loud.

The best idea yet. She already knows you smoke, so she just assumes that when you leave her presence to 'play on the computer,' a minute or two later she'll be entering your room expecting to catch you smoking. Put a towel under the door in your room to absorb more of the scratching sound and keep another towel nearby to absorb the sound of you choking. You all seem surprised that his mother could hear the lighter. If the house is dead silent and his mom has bionic ears, then not even the humble sound of a lighter striking will escape her hearing. So I exaggerated a little, she doesn't even need to have bionic ears. Study sound and all that jazz, not jazz, just sound, hearing, hertz, etc. Do a test. Have someone strike a lighter in your room while you sit in the space your mom would usually occupy (take your weed with you) and see if you hear it. Listen well. I'm sure your mom's ears are intent on catching you again.

Lol, last night when I smoked I went onto my side door step and light up, Granted my parents room, is through the outside wall of our house, then through 2-3 more walls, a bathroom, and then their room, I was still paranoid that it was too loud.

my suggestion is to look around a gas station next time you're in one, look at their lighter selection, try them out, buy the quietest. they have some very silent electric ones now, i had one with a slide mechanism, was very quiet.
i smoke on my roof too :)
