ok well i ask because of this

on april 5th, i went to the chimaira, dragonforce, and killswitch engage show aka the no fear music tour in cleveland....chimaira and killswitch are my next two favorite bands after tool


anyways, chimaira begins to play nothing remains which is my favorite song and i light up my first jay.....and the people around looked at me like i was crazy....im pretty sure i was the only one smoking, at least on the floor which is where i was standing...i just started thinking what the fuck

anyways dragonforce came and went(they sucked balls) and finally killswitch comes out....one thing to mention is that ive moved closer to the front but still have zero chance of getting caught unless of course there were undercovers which i doubted....so they come out and i light up my 2nd jay and of course with the smell everyone turns and looks and is like what the fuck.....i start talkin, im like offering people hits and they didnt want em.....through all 3 bands i never smelled any weed except for mine......not that big of a deal though, i got high as fuck and rocked/moshed my ass off and had a blast

but it made me think....any1 else out there like real heavy metal/metalcore???? or are metalheads only allowed to drink beer?....lol believe it or not thats what some dude was trying to tell me....that ur "supposed" to get drunk being a metal fan, not stoned

I have been into metal since i was 14 (im 25 now) I saw pantera in 97 when I was like 15. I have been to more metal shows then I can count. Me and my buddies even blazed at the no fear tour! And just about every other metal concert. I dont know if its just cleveland or what man! That must suck!

Hahaha I have a funny story to tell. At the Heaven and Hell show, there was this guy in front of us who smoked 7 joints. They were FAT joints. I was hoping for a second-hand high, but got none.:(

I like metal but when I'm high it's not something I want to listen to. Metal gets me pumped and is just not music I want to listen to when I'm mellowing out.

But yeah, Dragon Force sucks and Chimaira is awesome. Never really liked Killswitch so, no comment.

Its a way different scene at concerts today than when I was a teenager.

I remember seeing Metallica in 1989 at Reunion Arena and the pot was plentiful and shared. Nobody cared if you did, or didn't.

Fast forward to the last time I saw Metallica in 05 I think it was, the security fucks were all over the place, the only guy I saw light up was in the row in front of me about 2 guys to the right and security tried to get us to rat him out. We straight up told him to leave us the fuck alone, that we didn't see anything but even if we did we weren't tattlers. We toked up in the parking lot on the way in because so many other previous concerts were like that. wtf

Most of my town are metalheads and stoners and wouldnt light up jays in the middle of a show but maybe in the toilets or something. I wouldnt want a moshpit firing up just as im firing up

but ya i know what ur saying about not wanting to listen to metal when stoned....thats why i always bring a nice sativa to metal shows.....it really adds to the experience and i love moshing while just head stoned off my ass

but i could imagine being couch lock stoned at a metal show and ya i geuss that wouldnt be nearly as pleasent



im diggin the old stories from old shows too....im only 19 and part of me wishes i was around to go to the old epic metal shows that you guys are talking about..sounds like a blast


and ya billionfold, i totally know what ur saying...alot of metalheads are angry, im not one of them...i enjoy a good mosh as much as the next guy, but i mean those outside of the metal scene dont realize the code behind moshing...i mean u never try to actually hurt some1 and u always pick up the ones who fall, always.....i hate the drunks who get in the way and give the rest of us a bad name

REAL metal or metalcore? As for real metal, I love black and death mostly. I couldn't live without Drudkh, Burzum, Deicide, and Dying Fetus. The only metalcore I like is KSE and between the Buried and Me.

well im not a fan of all metalcore....but im a fan of more harder metalcore if that makes any sense to you guys....chimaira and kse are considered metalcore, but they are harder and heavier compared to bands like shadows fall or all that remains which is also considered metalcore, but not nearly as heavy in my opinion

but obviously im a fan of real metal too....you gotta throw it back to the guys who got everything started, the pioneers man...metallica (early metallica), slayer, pantera, megadeath....to me, thats what real metal is.....im not big on the "real" metal that is coming out today, bands like childen of bodom and lamb of god and the likes

i dunno guys, most metal to me sounds watered down and well for the most part just cheesy. Im not dazzled by blazing fast guitar solos because the music gets lost in translation. I dunno maybe you guys could help me out whats a pretty unique metal band, psychedelic in their own way??

well, everyone is gonna have their own opinion on this because different music speaks to different individuals in different ways

as for my opinion i would have to say check out the newest killswitch engage album....as most have said, KsE isnt puely "metal" but they fall into the "metalcore" genre.....however they are still pretty heavy and for some1 like you who is looking to get into it and arent ready for the purely "hardcore: bands i think KsE is a good place to start...they balance screming and singing very well along with brutal riffs but also good harmonies and melodies

i know some people will disagree, but like i said, everyone will have their own opinion on this matter, this just happens to be mine

Ive heard Killswitch before and idk, it didnt really phase me. It just kinda sound like all the other steriotypical metal to me.

Yeah dude, alot of scenesters are straight edge. Its the new thing. At shows around here (madison, WI) some places you will get your ass kicked if you are drunk or high. Im cool with it as long as there not preachy, but in return you shouldnt think they have a problem because they dont like you smoking pot.
