I just got my hands on a copy of the 2006/2007 New Years Eve show and from what I've heard so far it's fuckin incredible. The entire 2nd set is played reggae, yes reggae, style starting with a fantastic version of the Stones song Paint It Black finishing off with a reggae version of Soulshine. Sweeeeeet :D

For those of you who don't know Gov't Mule, it's kind of an Allman Brothers spin off formed by Allman guitarist Warren Haynes and the late Allman bassist Allen Woody. It's got the Allman Bros southern rock but with a heavier feel and mixed with jazz and "stoner rock". Quality stuff. Definitely worth checking out if you're into the Allmans or just good, trad rock & roll.

Warren Haynes is an absolutely incredible guitarist. I've seen Gov't Mule many times (with many more to come), and they have always put on an awesome show. Can't wait to catch them again at Bonnaroo.

I'm always amazed that Gov't Mule isn't bigger(more popular) than they are. They're so much better than anything on the top 10 these days. Probably just the time. If Mule had been around 20 years earlier they'd probably have been huge. It's sad that so many people would rather listen to the latest American Idol winner than someone with real talent. Oh well, at least I can feel good knowing that 5 years from now Mule will be as popular as they are today, while the current "stars" 15 minutes of fame will be a memory.
