i am new to growing...i have started 4 plants wich all sucessfully germinated. I planted the seedlings in soil ...they have been inside under a 100W floresent bulb for 3days. It is warming up outside ..today was very sunny witha high of about 20 so i put them outside. In the morning they were about a cm tall and bringht green. When i got home the temperature was down to 5 degrees. The plants grew another half a cm and the leaves started coming out of the seed. But the stems dured a darker green..evena bit brown and are bending over. The top of the plants are bent over almost to the ground. There are some good signs and some bad so i dont know whats happening..is this good or bad. please help i am a newbie

Im sorry but I want' to be clear here....are we talking 5 degrees F? Because if so you can probably go ahead and bury them. If it's 5 C....i don't know Celsius but I can tell you that temps below 40 F are too cold for your plants and personally I wouldn't put mine anywhere under 50 F. Sounds like you simply froze them.

Well, 5 celcius is still only 41 fahrenheit... which is far to cold for even mature plants let alone, seedlings that just germinated. Make sure you're not keeping them overly humid because you will damp off very easily in an overly moist and cold climate.
Read up on "damping-off", maybe it'll help.
all the best,
Bob
