Get more specific with your questions.
I think you own a grinder right?, If not GET ONE, you don't need a $20 grinder(although on Ebay $20 will get you a KILLER GRINDER) just find one on Eay for $10 mailed to you and you'll be glad you did.
Pull hard on or semi-hard on the VaporStar, this will keep you from burning any herb and you can slow down if you don't see any vapors(Slow/less air make more heat). The VapoStar responds quickly to the changes in airflow through the VP. If your not geting vapor slow down a bit and with in 2-3 second you'll see vapor building then draw fast and kill the flame while still pulling. The correct way to hit is to kill the flame early enough that you can continue to inhale with enough lung capacity left to fully empty the glass bong of vapors going back to clear again.
Look for the visual clues of the vapors inside the bong. They tell you every thing and this is the VaporStar major advantage along with the 16 heating outlets in the VP.
If your looking for the biggest hit possible, your going to have to pull the flame on - off - on -off -on -off of the VP to keep it from geting to hot but you can learn this also with a little practice.
I don't look for the biggest hit, I don't mine hiting it 10 medium hits vs 4 huge ones. Small hits make this very easy, just stir the bowl add flame let a tad bit of vapor build - kill the flame - continue to inhale as the vapors fade and untill they are totaly gone, repeat intill vapors become hard to get.
Don't overload your bowl it hurts air flow, make temps rise to fast and won't stir well.

thx for the advice. yes i do have a grinder and i couldnt live without it. how far do you let the tip of the flame dip into the VP?

I kinda rest my lighter tip on the VP to be sturdy, so my lighter is laying on the VP edge/wood bowl pointing the flame up and over the opening and as I pull it draws it dwon in. As long as it dips in it doesn't matter then its just up to the size of flame your lighter makes, but inhaling fast brings in more cold air to cool everything down. Obviously you got to watch the bong with a fresh bowl you'll see the vapors start go just a tad more then kill the flame. Small hits mean more pure vapors. Don't over load the bowl, misting you herbs can help but you'll see THAT vapor boil off on the first hit or so, the next hits will be herb vapor.

Try a real small flame and inhale real slow to get a controlled hit.;)

^ I guess it's what works for each individual, I find hiting it harder pulls in the air faster and when you see vapor in the bong you know it's just that and not the begining of smoke from scorching. The few times I have scorched it was when I was pulling to slow and let the heat build up to fast and then all of a sudden I crossed the temp line and it started smoking. Everytime I pull fast I get vapors when theres some there to get but I NEVER scorch pulling medium to fast and hell even when pulling slow scorching is rare with the VaporStar
I have another lighter based vaporizer(The Pipeorizer) and after further review the VaporStar is just supierior at every level. While I do still like the Pipeorizer(found on ebay) it's because it does work very well but you have to be more careful and it's also only $13.99 delivered THAT'S CHEAP(but you need a pipe which puts it up around $30ish w/pipe purchase), I like them both but the VaporStar just flat out has more control - it ease's the vapors in and ease's them out just like in the video, and I only scorch 1 hit in a 50 and thats if I'm really trying to get every last bit out of the dried herb.
Slow hit's for me are when I know I have got'en 90% of the Vapors out of the herb but need to get it really hot to pull that last 10% out of it. I also like the fact that its not a fully glass bong, you can take the rubber bottom off and easily clean the bong I clean mine after each use, I love starting with sparking clean glass the next time.

You should be able to see it realitivly easy on the first 3 draws, after that theres is vapor but it's thined out and you got to work for it. If you not seeing any at all your not geting it hot enough add more herb and use a Larger Flame.

Are you overloading it, or perhaps pulling air in too fast, or maybe not fast enough?
Does it whistle a little? Mine starts to whistle just a tiny bit when I'm inhaling at the right speed.
How 'bout yours SuperTorch, whistle?

If I use a larger flame I can taste burnt air, this is why I keep my flame down on the small side and just tickle the flame through the tube, then pull the flame that bit further away when I see vapor, and back in again when the vapor fades.
I also like to inhale for longer than the instructions say too, 20 seconds or so to get a real lungful.
I discovered this using a little flame thing when my lighter gas started running low, and I was too smashed to face the public.

I don't really listen for a whistle(it's there though). I watch for the vapors coming on and know how long I can leave the flame on with out scorching, this just comes with practice. If you have a larger flame with out the ability to lower it then inhale really fast just like it says to do on the website. Small or large flames work equally well you just adjust you air speed to it. If I slow down my inhale on a medium to large flame it'll heat up so much I'll scorch the herb.
Mine in reality is really easy to use and I hardly ever scorch, I have ground up herb in my bowl and I'm geting vapors in 8 seconds of the first hit, hits 1,2 and 3 are very nice then I stir every 2 hit for 6 more hits for a total of 9-10 hits. I have ZERO problems geting vapors. You need to realize that vapor are only .33 as thick as smoke.
No Vapors to me seems like low heat and not enough herb the bowl, it should be halfway full of GROUND herbs.
