Ok I just got a copy of photoshop 7 because im trying to design a birthday invitation for my sister. I thought photoshop would be easy but man its complex!

All I want to do is copy a section of an image she has given me and paste it to another part of the same image but leaving the original part intact (not cutting it out completely)

I just wanna clone the section and move it but I cant for the life of me figure out how???

Ive tried all the obvious tools but I just cant do it! Can somebody tell me how please!

Cheers

You can use the lasso tool to select the portion of the picture you want to cut out/copy/move....that usually works well. You'll have to have a copy of the image your working on, so select what you want and copy-paste that big boy on over there. The magnetic lasso is useful in some situations, so give that a try too. It's just a bit more frustrating at times...

Hope that helps. ~

Select the Marquee tool. Using that click and drag a square or rectangle around the portion of picture you wish to duplicate. Once you have done that, hit Ctrl+C. Now from the top menu bar select layer, new layer. Once it is created switch to the new layer. Hit Ctrl+P. Now you should have a layer with only the section of photo you wanted to reproduce. You can now manipulate this section to your heart's content. Move it around, add filters, whatever tickles your pickle. I hope that helps.
