Can you sex a plant without switching timing?

I have 6 plants 1 is currently under 12/12, but I have no room for the other 5 to go under the same regime. Will plants show thier sex without switching to 12/12. I have always thought they can't. Could someone back this up for me.

yea at between 6-8 node's it should show "preflower's".
