Yeah I'm interested in a DYI too, or a quality kit for beginners

Hey I was looking for exactly the same thing, then i saw this movie and its hella easy to make your own systems, it includes a drip system for veging and an ebb and flow for flowering, pretty simple and watch what he gets outta it!

Blue...............

4 5 gallon buckets black ones or painted black
4 Mega Monster Netpots that fit lid perfectly
1 quality airpump
4 airstones
Some airline
Hydroton to fill netpots
Nutes
ph/TDS/EC tester
pH Down (Unlikely you need pH up)
R.O. Unit (optional but very nice to have)
Some CFL's or T5's to veg with
Seperate mom/clone/veg area
1000 watt H.P.S. to flower
4'x4' floor space for flowering
Drill with bit to drill the lip of each net pot or the side of bucket to feed airline thru and drill about 30 holes around top of bucket to tie string to.
Learn to LST the 4 plants so you can get the benefit of every lumen your light produces.
Few cases of wide mouth Mason quart jars

I am assuming you have ventilation, odor control, etc already in place.

There ya go........... DWC setup in 12 beers or less.

Oh yeah, learn to grow from clones while keepin a mom.

Done correctly you cannot smoke what the above setup would produce every 8-10 weeks. If you can, then add two buckets. Wait, if you smoke that much you would be too fuckin stoned to move and add anything.

Lovin it green,

bonger is right, dwc is probably the easiest and most effective hydro system available.

one thing though: you can use little netpots (5 inches or so) so you can use less hydroton, since the roots mainly live in the water anyhow.

here's a diy (do it yourself) dwc setup. easy easy...

Thanks for the link Scarlet, thats a great diy tutorial.I think i'm going to build one, I've always used a drip system and now I am very interested in DWC. So I have a few questions that might help some others out as well as myself. In dwc when you place your clones in the net pots with your hydroton your supposed to keep it one inch away from the roots right? If thats the case when you first put your clones in the net pots no roots will prob be exposed so will the roots contained in the hydroton still have nutes deliverd to them?

i place my water just below the cut, the roots will spread and hang in the water. no nutes til you see roots, just plain jane ph'd water

I'm not very good at asking questions on boards so I'll try this again. When the plant has roots but are not hanging out of the net pot yet do the nutes penetrate the hydroton in the net pot to reach the roots?

they do if you are already using roots. let me rephrase.

you won't use any nutes, until you see roots sticking out of the net pot. not before. all you have to do, is keep the bubbles splashing the ht until they come out, which takes about a week to two weeks.

then nutes. :)

I recommend watching the video linked above. I love that video I Grow Chronic with Mr. Green lol. Best video ever. I have also considered switching to hydro for my next grow and I might build my own. Roots and soil for me just isn't working. I think hydro would be way easier for me to work with.

thanks alot for the input i spaced out about this lol, my only problem is that i dont understand some of the stuff your talking about, here they are:

hydroton?
TDS/EC?
how to maintain a hydro system?
how often do i add nutes?
does this run 24/7 ?
can i use this for veg and flowering?

edit:
n is this pretty much a bucket with a water line in/out then an air stone to make bubbles underneath your roots?.....

i have NO exp with hydroponics

hey man im new to DWC too, but i learned alot lately! now as far as the TDS, im not sure what that is either yet. With a hydro system, you wanna change the water every 2 weeks minumum imho. and when you change your water, you mix the nutes in with it, its pretty simple. and yes the pumps run 24-7. your lights still stay on 12-12. and im pretty sure you can use it for the entire life cycle...not sure so dont hold me to it haha. and bongers list is actually perfect! you will grow monster plants depending on how long you vegg them. i was told you can get something like a pound per plant with a 2.5 month vegg!!! now those are results in my opinion! hope this helps dude!

peace

i have NO exp with hydroponics

1. Clay Pellets for hydroponic growing (google it)
2. Total Dissolved Solids/Electrical Conductivity - measure of nutrient concentration in your solution. TDS is measured in parts per million (ppm) and EC is essentially the same measure, just a different scale.
3 & 4. this would take too long. suffice it to say, top off every other day, alternating between water and half strength solution. replace your whole nutrient solution every 1-2 weeks.
5. yes run your bubbles 24-7
6. yes

edit 7. yeah pretty much. simple huh?

If you took any time to read the growfaqs or looking for threads on this subject you would've found them. they are there. Why should I retype over and over, what is already in the forums, and not that far down the list. I think you are being inconsiderate. After all I answered a question above.

Blue he won't be the last person to tell you that and he's right anyways. If you search you will prob find over 100 threads where the same questions were asked and answered. Latewood was trying to help you out not put you down. You can find your answers faster searching then you can waiting for a response. The people on this board that know their shit will always tell you to search first. When I first came here the same thing happened to me and I thought wow real friendly. But once you've been here for awhile and you see the same questions that are asked even if you know the answer your going to tell them to search.:) :)

Exactly. No hard feelings. I made the comment because that is what you need to do.
When I came here I read for 3 months before I even asked a question.
I read about DWC...I searched for bubblers, and ph, and all kind of things and after a few threads...
You will learn what type of threads to read, and who knows what they are talking about.
I have probably 5 complete explanations somewhere on this entire topic; and countless other excerpts.
The point being. If you have to list all those questions; You have some reading to do. That's all.

I am a blunt person. I don't generally sugar coat 'chitman...I just tell you what you need to know. If We *love you.

*refer to siggy! LOL
