Im Canadian and i think they have the same gun laws as we do .Yes hand guns are illegal in Canada rifles for hunting are not illegal but you have to go through a ton of red tape and licences before you can buy a rifle.IM from England too and i think its the same there.Hell most of the police dont carry guns.

What fishman said :)
Hand guns are now totally illegal - even most gun clubs can't have them. After some nutjob walked into a school here and shot a bunch of kids that sealed the deal on hand guns.
Farmers and gamekeepers can have shotguns/rifles but that's about it. You can't really buy them for hunting in the UK afaik.
Only special police units carry firearms and for the most part its the HK MP5 but armed responce carry all-sorts of kit.

Yes some criminals have guns but its not like everyone is armed in Canada.Me personaly i think Canada is a lot safer with strict gun regulation. In the city i live in which is usually called the murder capital of Canada we have around 25-30 murders a year with a population base of around 650,000.Plus only a few of those are killed with a gun.
Shotguns and rifles are the only ones we can have for hunting. Hand guns are a nono, and all other automatic weapons are - but that doesnt stop people buying them, and carrying them around.
Hand guns are legal in the isle of mann though.
And automatic weapons and some hand guns can be used at specialist gun clubs as far as i can remember- unless they've changed the laws again.
Although, once your on MOD land you can use any kind of firearm - i've fired all sorts at carver barracks - L98, L85, AK-47, Le .22, Le 303
But yeah, on the streets for everyday people guns are illegal.
