Battlefield 2 (PC version) while smokin' weed

I love playing battlefield 2 while toked up. Get an almost 3-d effect and its almost like a true immersion experience. Anyone else do this? It must be a popular idea cuz back in the day of Desert Combat used to run into lots of people online doing this. Have not played for several months now since I no longer have any windows computers (100% Linux now). But think I'm going to have to get a windows machine going again cuz I miss BF2.

lately tho i been playing the desert conflict mod.... it's prettty good actually...

no more commanders, artilery consists of SCUD trucks, Howitzer 119 (i think is the number) tanks and trucks that cary missles similar to scud missles (the scuds are huge... like 3-4 players tall and can destroy everything in a small base with one) but there's alot of 'em... Opposition (mec) team has like 38 shots and one reload (can be fired one after another) and Coalition (us) has i think 12 rockets and 5 reloads...

the planes are diffrent too.. the migs and f18's are no longer bombers, they have special bomber planes (such as the A10) and american side has a AC-130 with mounted artilery style guns, chain guns, and cannons similar to a 30mm (apc)

all new maps (only a handful atm but they're supposed to be making more)

anyone who has BF2 should really check out the desert conflict mod.... it's free as well...

kinda late... go ahead and get it back then... cuz since the DCON (desert conflict) mod has been introduced (it's completely free too, you just need to have BF2.. it's not the whole game, just a mod) there is no real areason to rank up... there are no unlocked weapons, no commander (only other real reason for rank, to beat anyone else that applies for commander) rank no longer matters at all...

i tried fear.. not my thing... i like the wide openness of BF2... if i want close quarter non-stop butt-hole puckering action... i got killzone.... and soon i'll have a replacement for that...

but overall, my fav fps's are the wide open ones...

sides, i love climbing in a jet... it's actually funny cuz i know aot of people (as i do read the forums of games i play for tips and tricks) use joysticks to fly them... and still, it's rare to find someone that can keep up with my manuvers... or escape me... (i use a keyboard only) of course you're probably wondering why that matters... well i'll put it to you as the flying guide put it to everyone else... with a joystick, you have complete control over speed pitch angle etc (can apply reverse thrusters at 50% or forward pitch at 30%, or even forward thrust at 10%)... with a keyboard, it's either 100% 0% or -100%

the only real way you escape is 1, i run outta missles right before a dogfight, and i'm trying to get you with the guns, and somehow i end up crashing (dosn't happen often, but it does, i ain't gonna lie) or you end up wiht some back up on my tail... especially if you're already damaged... following you only becomes that much easier... the slight chance you're just outta my view, is instantly remedied by your smoke trail.

this is battlefield 2, not battlefield 2142... big big BIG diffrence... haven't played 2142 yet, but it's supposed to be all futuristic... battlefield 2, is largely based on now (even the teams are based on now, the weapons and vheicles people use etc...)

if you do get it, make sure to get the DCON mod for it if you wanna play me... o.0 i doubt i'll ever go back to plain BF2...

i think cs source is quirked out..granted graphics are better than the ...1.6(?)
but 1.6's bullet registry and grenades, aside from the flashes because those are brutal in source, are better....

ive noticed grenades are mad weak in source and they bounce odd and sometimes it seems like youre aiming at the head and youll be missing but you aim over the shoulder and you hit them in the head...inconsistencies like that..im not bad at either but prefer 1.6

as for this battlefield2 game...it looks sick and im going to pick it up asap

ive played 2142 and didnt like it it reminded me of tribes 2 too much traveling around huge maps and not enough action...there were some sick gunmod mods for tribes 2 and im sure there might be a mod of 2142 thats more intense but i just found it boring...neat concepts though

well bf2 has some wide open maps too... but you can also get up to 64 people in a single server... so there's plenty of action... it suits everyone, youc an be the lone wolf sniper scouting around taking people out, or you can pick spawn points that both teams are currently fighting for (you'll see masses of people fighting over one point all the time... it can get pretty intense)

as for my fav maps... on regular bf2, sharqi, dragon valley, karkrand's ok... kubra dam is probably my fav tho...

on DCON, lost village or outskirts of mosul...

pretty damn popular... i mean it can't hold a candle to the base of regular bf2 (regular bf2 has like over 1500 servers O.O) but it gets alot of play.... there's almost always atleast one server near full (oh 54 players plus) and plenty with 30+.. at peak time, there's alot more almost full ones tho... right now there's about 300 (including empty ones) servers dedicated to DCON...

the only bad time for it is in the mornings (like 6 am or so, but even then there's matches going on with atleast 30 players o.0) personally i like DCON better...

on desert conflict (the mod) there is =/ it's an alpha release and there's still alotta bugs and stuff to work out... but i never really run across many cheaters in regular servers... o.0 most servers even enforce no basecamping type shit.... most servers don't like cheaters at all... just depends where you play..

gotta be in a ranked server, if you ARE in ranked servers, give it time.. it doesn't auto update... i think it updates it's database like every 30 mins-hr...

i can get a rank up, and weapon unlock, but sometimes i can't pick my weapon upgrade for 30mins-hr later....

you can pick the game up cheap, got mine about 2 weeks ago from amazon for £13, luckily the key still works. id never hered of it till my friend calld and pretty much insisted i get it...i dont often buy games (usually download em on bit-torrent) but this one is worth it for the online action.

yeah, you definately need to squad up... if i'm alone, doing good i can expect to maybe finish the game off with 40-50 points... in a squad, i can easily get 70+ even have got over 100... squads aren't that hard anyways, just play your role... if you're support, pass out ammo, offer supressing fire to bottle neck places while your squad gets ready to move in (say there's a whole in the wall, just start shooting off rounds into that hole so no enemy gets the idea of coming out, they position themselves on the wall at either side of the hole, you stop firing, they file in guns blazing) if you're a medic, revive revive revive... and if you're the only medic, keeping your team alive is priority 1... if you'r ein the thick of enemy territory, i wouldn't even try to find the shooter before reviving.... get him up, and run for cover.... repeat til you're all dead, or the enemy is all gone. sniper, you're a spotter... as you move with your squad try to take high ground so you can spot for enemies... in gun fights, take some relative cover but not far and start picking off enemies... mostly everyone's going to be worrying about your other squad mates with the automatic weapons... leaving you wide open for some close sniping action...

when in a squad, set your leader as your spawn point... and leave it as that... squad leader's job is to position himself near a flag to be captured but out of sight, so his members can keep spawning on him and moving in... he's a mobile spawn point... good leaders stay back, and only fire when support is needed or they're being fired at.... if you're in a squad and the leader is continuously running straight into enemy terroitory, guns blazing, find a new squad :thumbsup: lol... cuz yal ain't gonna do too good....

mostly tho, you just watch your squad members back.. there really is nothign special to know about being in squads... just follow your leader, keep your eyes peeled and work as a team (i.e. you and another member go through a door way, turn the way he doesn't so you can cover both sides, if no one's there turn around and keep following your squad.)

it also helps if you pick one weapon set... after awhile into the match, the sqaud begins to become accustomed to whatever class you are.... you were support but now you changed to spec ops and everyoen's screaming for ammo but you don't have any to give... it can get confusing, but it's worse when there's a couple of medics and they both decide to change class at the same time... the medic is actually the strong point of any squad... the best squad i've been in so far was 5 medics and 1 support...

Yeah, turns out i wasn't playing in ranked servers. I just played an hour long game half an hour ago, and stopped to eat lunch. But now I'm ready for some more.

that site will tell you points needed for the ranks (and any prerequisates it might have) along with how to obtain all medals, badges and ribbons...

can also check your own stats on the site ("BF2 stats" then on the left side put in your name) it's useful because for things like the combat badges where you have to play a certain number of hours, it tells you how many hours you've put into that particular thing, and how much to go...

ive been playing call of duty 3 on xbox live and i cant get off it. the whole squad deal in bf2 sounds like just what i do in cod. i just yell at people to be a medic or support, and usually cruise around hunting germans unless its capture the flag or headquarters. then its just too crazy and hectic.

2nd gen spec ops is ok, better then the china's or mec's smg...
2nd gen assault rifle sucks... it's powerful and accurate, but only holds 20 rounds... better then the M16... but china's and mec's 1st gen assault rifles are better overall... haven't used 3rd gen much, but from what i have, it sucks
2nd gen suppport MG is the best out of them all.. the us and mec's support mg are pretty much even... mec's has a smaller clip, slower rate of fire, but a little more accurate then the us's saw249... it has a much larger clip and a much higher rate of fire, but it's less accurate
don't mess with engineer much...

it has 2 reserved spots (that's the number in parantheses next to the number showing how many players are in the server...) i.e. you can only join when it has 61 or less players... doesn't take long... just stick it in your favs, and keep clicking between that server and some random server in your favs to find out when it has 61 or less...

it may take a minute (as in 60 seconds) to get in, but to me it's worth it...

if you notice in regular servers... more than 60% of the time you're killed by vheicles... just cuz you aren't equpied to take them down...

just imagine that all that really stands between you winning a gun fight is skill, aim, and clip load... among a few other smaller factors (such as if it's a squad you're firing on, but you can get very easily lucky and take them all out.. aim for medics first, then go for anyone with an automatic... keep moving so snipers can't get a clear bead on your head...)

o.0 you're gonna waste your first unlock on the g3? <.< lol... well it is your account and time, but i'd suggest against it.... like strongly... i can definately understand wanting to be an assault figure, but i know you aren't someone's played it yet....

the assault kit doesn't offer a whole lot no matter what upgrade you got... a few grenades (nearly every class has them... engineer and anti-tank being hte only exception and the engineer carries land mines and anti-tank a rocket launcher) and a single smoke grenade.. (mostly every kit carries grenades, knife, and a pistol.) other then that, nothing special for assault personel... they're just your average everyday run in gunnin' soldier)

you'll see what i'm saying when you play it... every class basicly has some 'skill' that no other has (support replenish ammo, medic heal and revive, sniper spot and pick off troops, spec ops... well they got c4... and of course it can be used to lay traps, take out vheicles, or blow up bridges [yes, you can blow up bridges to keep troops and vheicles at bay] engineer, lay mines fix vheicles/structures, anti-tank take out vheicles) but the assault class, can easily be handled by any other class....

they just get smoke grenades and for 3rd gen upgrade, a shitty assault rifle and flash bangs.... in most games they're pretty damn useful.. but in this game, they're really not.... only practical use i've found of them so far, is just to blind on coming troops... but you usually don't see on coming troops, you only see you got company when it's right on your ass, cuz most flag capturers run in squads, and use strategical planning to get there.... and get in... not much of a chance to really use those flash bangs...

What would you recommend as the first upgrade I unlock?

depends, you like to work more as a team? just open guns and start firing or stay alone? do yoiu prefer us or the other side (the server mentioned above lets you pick your team and stay on it every round.... personally i prefer to stay MEC.. unless i plan on sniping, then it doesn't matter as i have the m95 [i have more unlocks... but if i'm on mec i have a wide array to weapons, opposed to us forces, i'm limited basicly to my unlocks... cuz i personally think all the US weapons suck donkey balls.. i don't spray and pray, but if you ain't got an automatic and the dude you're firing at does, it doesn't end to well for you 70% of the time...)

working as a team (on us side) medic... that m16 sucks.. just loving ot fire, support... seriously, that gun kicks some ass... NEVER EVER use any weaponf ully automatic this game DOES reconize recoil, and using fully automatic opposed to firing a fully automatic weapon, at pulses SEVERELY SEVERELY decreases accuracy... if at far range, never use more the one shot at a time.. believe me, that recoil does make alot of diffrence... even snipers.. before you tak eyour shot, pause a few seconds droppign to he ground, putting your cross hair on their head doesn't always work... even if you're 100% sure you hit them.... the bullet wil say otherwise), pulse fire (with the MG i do about 6 round bursts, anything smaller, i stick to the 3 round... but being able to open up and 'spray and pray' is very useful in alot of situations... which is the only reason i prefer auto's over semi's or burst-only weapons like the m16)

for lone wolf, definately the sniper rifle... little more recocking time then the m24 (us basic sniper rifle) but a hell of alot more range, accuracy and damage....

basicly of hte 2nd gen weapon upgrades, in list of usefulness/my personal tastes (purely talking fo the upgraded weapon here... i.e. medic will always be the most useful in any battle situation, but the rifle sucks) (i base my tastes on working as a team btw... i prefer squads opposed to lone wolf, but i do spend about as much time on both 'sides'..)

As a matter of fact I was doing this a few weeks ago... I was too fucked up to realize what I was doing but it was super fun and it is fun to fly jets in the game as long as you have a good joystick.

jets are my favorite thing..i almost joined the navy just for their air force. there was a game called ace combat that i used to play nonstop for ps2 i think. anyways, thats my forte so to speak, driving vehicles. not limited to, just one of my things i guess. i like to drive tanks a lot.

No i haven't, but it looks like more of the same. Special Forces is sweet because the maps it offers put A LOT of emphasis on sneaking around and stealthiness...

It blurs your vision really badly and you cough, so if you're hiding, it gives away your position..

Another good thing about Special Forces is that they take away some of the emphasis on crazy vehicle massacres and put more on CQC... I don't think I'll be going back to Vanilla BF2 for a while...

lol i don't think i've ever heard the term 'vanilla' to describe a 'regular game' (as opposed to expansion packs) but i guess it makes sense.. since vanilla ice cream is usually considered plain ice cream...

anyways, how do they force more CQC in SF? like more narrow streets/less wide open spaces or what?

i wish ther was a server that had jeeps only.... they don't really offer much but trasnportation, and sometimes it can be a bitch to walk everywhere lol...

You're gonna laugh, but i'm running everything on low at 800x600 on a 256MB Radeon, because my computer's an outdated piece of shit. But that's all gonna change very soon...

no i'm not gonna laugh... i think the card i have now is a 256 (could be the 512, i been up all night and can't remember atm)... not sure.. i know it got GREAT reviews from the peopel over at my computer forum so i went for it (i was going to go with GEforce 7800 GT) it's a Radeon x1950 pro extreme... (huge ass card tho lol... barely fit in my pc, and took up an extra PCI slot...)

it can easily handle 1024 at highest video settings, but like i said, i like to get down to buisness so i went down a notch (still at 1024 tho)

kinda late... go ahead and get it back then... cuz since the DCON (desert conflict) mod has been introduced (it's completely free too, you just need to have BF2.. it's not the whole game, just a mod) there is no real reason to rank up... there are no unlocked weapons, no commander (only other real reason for rank, to beat anyone else that applies for commander) rank no longer matters at all...

sounds like War Rock... a similar FPS... if your into BF2 you might like War Rock... it's free to download and F2P or P2P (Free 2 Play or Pay 2 Play)...

P2P has more features... such as all maps playable (F2P members can play the maps too, but they can only use some maps when creating their own room), also 5th weapon slot (extremely handy)...

Ranks only show a more experienced (and probably better than you) player, they have no bearing on the game itself, you play as a team and no-one is in-charge (although some people like to think they are ^_^ ).... but if your good at fps games you can come in a complete n00b and still wipe the floor...

I love playing battlefield 2 while toked up. Get an almost 3-d effect and its almost like a true immersion experience. Anyone else do this? It must be a popular idea cuz back in the day of Desert Combat used to run into lots of people online doing this. Have not played for several months now since I no longer have any windows computers (100% Linux now). But think I'm going to have to get a windows machine going again cuz I miss BF2.

I haven't played BF2 in so fuckin' long.

I ended up having to uninstall windows on my beefed out computer, and when I was about to re-install it, I realized on don't even have the fuckin' Windows XP CD, so that really fuckin' sucks. I've been asking around a lot, but so far, nothing's turned up. I'm going through serious BF2 withdrawal and I spend a lot of my free time on the computer watching videos of it on Youtube :(

Hahahahaha we'll see, I've been trying to get the amazing L96A1 for myself. The sound it makes is so satisfying. I don't really bother with Xfire that much these dayz, and I just launch it straight from the desktop. I'm usually in 64.54.175.90 (24/7 Karkand I/O) if you're up for it..
