this is what the site says:
INGREDIENTS
This product is regionally formulated from organic
materials (primarily derived from one or more of the
following: hypnum peat, forest products or compost),
sand, perlite and a wetting agent.

I would use Foxfarm myself. Get it at a Hydroponics store.

i checked it out, its 22 bucks for a cubit ft...holy hell thats a lot for some potting soil, i'd rather work with the burns or miracle gro or try this earthgro, i can't afford to grow a few plants in soil thats is that expensive

I see this type of post often about MG or Scotts TR ferts soil, or other similar chem type fert soils being too hot for young seedlings. (too high on N) It depends on the strain. In any case, if you just lighten it a little bit by adding maybe 25-30% perlite it won't be too hot. It will grow and spread roots much better with the addition of the perlite anyway. Especially when they are young / small. If that's all that is readily available to you, get it and just add the perlite and it will do fine. Just realize that the nutes in it will get used up after a while and you will have to add / use ferts eventually. Also, adding some type Epsom or similar suppliment is sometimes needed.

it's probably heavy peat moss. adding a bunch of perlite would probably do

actually, i just got back from home depot and i'll be damned if they have almost NOTHING but miraclegrow. but i also saw this one you mention; a big was ripped and some was spilling out. anyway, it's HEAVY compost and peat-moss. which means lots of water retention. i believe it has some perlite too, but not enough. i think i might be getting some myself, it's nearly a soilless mix. but will probably use 40% perlite to get good drainage

because i couldn't find anything appealing, i just ended up with a small bag of miraclegrow organic. figure i'll start seeds in styrofoam cups filled 2/3 with this (with perlite), and 1/3 with some soilless mix (and perlite), and then when i transplant just go into a soilless mix. anyway...................it's all experimentation for me at this point

ok so i had to transplant them out of the earthgro and into some miracle grow organic w. added perlite (about 4cups per 8 quarts bag), but i've had nasty transplant shock...using superthrive...anything else i can do to help with the shock

I actually picked up some earthgro today, the 1cuft/20lb bag for around $5 I wanted to try and use organic soil in the future, let me know how it goes
