omg lol, i havea hardcore dancing story.
so a couple years ago i was sitting at lunch with some of my friends and this weird emo-ish kinda kid. he showed up one day and had a cast on. we all asked him what happeed and he didnt really wanna tell us the whole story (i can see why)
he told us he was at a concert in a mosh pit and he broke his arm. we kept prodding for answers and finally he told us because he was dancing and some guy had kicked him in the arm. one of my friends had heard about this "hardcore dancing" and elightened us. my god it was so funny lol.
this shit is so stupid, i see these guys freaking out beatin the shit outta the air around them and i just start laughing so hard.

hahahahahahahah, that shit was funny, aint that dangerous and retarded or just retarded.........
how can people think they even look remotely cool? because they all seem to think that they're so cool. it reminds me of this idiot in high school named Steven Clary, who would randomly do backflips, and try to show off his cool karate moves. though he can't actually fight worth shit. these kids are idiots.

So what i get from this thread is i'm a prick, i'm stupid, i'm an idiot, i'm retarted, i'm weird, and apparently i'm emo.
I take part in this "stupid" form of dancing, in fact when i get out of work i'm going to a show! I don't understand what this forum has against Hardcore, you all talk so much crap about it but i have yet to see anyone here that acctually truely understands what hardcore is really all about. Yes this video is stupid, dancing is meant to stay on the floor not in the street, but in truth the kids in these videos are not truely hardcore kids. Hardcore is about respect and pride for ones self ones freinds and ones family. Hardcore is about equality (the only reason why the nazi skins are not in boston anymore is because of the hardcore crew FSU). Hardcore is about packing a million pissed off kids into a little room so they can blow off some steam in a safe environment. Its not about who looks cool in the pit, its not about fasion. Its not about being toughguys, and it is most certanly not about straight edge (sxe). The kids that dress up are just as bad as the mall goths out there! They are not hardcore, they are fasioncore! I suggest you all go to a true hardcore show and experience the passion and the unity of everyone there and then come back and tell me its stupid. However you all probably wouldn't know where to look because chances are the bands you think are hardcore bands, are not hardcore. Slipknot is NOT hardcore, they are numetal! The red chord (good band) not hardcore, they are metalcore! Norma Jean, not hardcore! Poison the Well, not hardcore, Killswitch Engage, again not hardcore! Bane is hardcore, this is hell is hardcore, death before dishonor is hardcore, Righteous Jams is hardcore! Bands that you gotta pay 40 to 60 bucks a ticket for so you can see them in a big areana and push each other around in a pushpit are NOT HARDCORE!
Just to put it into perspective for all of you, I was at a show a about a month ago and there was a band there named "the geeks" from South Korea, now south korea isnt exacly the greatest plac ein the world and belive me global conflict makes for great hardcore, but what was amazing about them is that they belives so much in hardcore and the lifestyle that they risk their lives everyday to play the music and live the life they belive in. (sound familiar stoner kids?) much like the stoner culture, hardcore is a lifestyle, just like I would call myself a stoner, i would also call myself a hardcore kid, when i go to a show and i dance i'm doing it to have a good time, its a way for me to forget all my troubles and just have a good time, everyone there understands that if you get hit its not a reason to fight over it because simply it was an accident, i lost my tooth in a pit, did i get mad, not at all! WHy? because there was nothing to get mad over, it was simply an accident and just that, i was in the wrong place at the wrong time and i accept that! So i'de appreciate it if you not bash the lifestyle I live. Everyone always advocates for the love inside the stoner culture yet all you lack the abbility to act on your words.
I'm not trying to be an asshole, i love all you guys and i absolutly love this forum but it troubles me when i see people talk crap about others lifestyles simply because its unnacceptable. I challenge any of you to go to a true hardcore show and start pubicly stating your oppinions on hardcore... esspecially you Bong_man! You go get em buddy!;)

I must say the santa mosh was amazing... I made a santa mosh poster back in highschool lol, it was to promote a local show, it got taken down cause school administrators thought "sxe" stood for sex not straight edge.

The way you dance at a show doesnt define the style of the band nor how good they are, they way people dance litterally varies from city to city/state to state. I've been to shows all over and the kids in NH can't dance for shit compared to the kids in MA, no matter what bands are playing. I've even ben to venues where no one danced to bands that usually have everyong on the floor moving.
But overall i'd agree that "REAL" hardcore is better than this new pop-hardcore bullshit being put out by major labels

Circle pits>Any kind of dancing. I was at a fucking Hatebreed show, and NO one knew what a circle pit was. Same thing with FBC. Same thing with some other shitty "hardcore" bands. Whatever happened to real hardcore. Now all we have is breakdowns and two stepping.

There are some out there, they are just few and far between, hardcore is on a downward slope along with hiphop and everything else that was ever good, mainly because of corporate takeover ruining the genre. It happens tho and I intend on sticking to the lifestyle cause its always been a huge part of my life and it has made me some of the best friends anyone could ever ask for... Even the supposed "good" hardcore is annoying. I forgot who it was, but it was at this year's Stillborn Fest, and most of the opening bands were all "good and true" hardcore. Every 5 fucking seconds you have some dumbass doing that little lion walk and having a really stupid smirk, then they punch air and whatnot.

I agree those of you who say it going downward, your in the wrong place. This shit started in the 80's with Slayer, old metalica, they said it was dumb and dying then look at it now twice as big twice as many bands. You may be getting banged up and lossing face but with bands like Soulfly, Slayer, Hatebreed, Machinehead, Hoods, Cannibal Corpse, and new bands forming every day It will never die. Some people are warriors and need to get hit.
I dont care or think its emo or any of that shit. I do the hardcore dance when no one will mosh. The objective is to piss people off and have them come hit you so you can hit them back, thus starting a chain reaction and turingin into a pit. I think it looks funny as hell and to some one whos never seen it, when some one "picking change" or doing a "windmill" gets hit it is devisting. Which is the whole point of the mosh pit to see how much you can take and how much you can dish out:pimp: :pimp: :pimp: Oh RIP Pantera

i have been in and out of the local hardcore scene in MA since about 97. I know thats not old school, but some shit HAS changed. the punky edge has been replaced with detuned grindcore, all the music has been seperated into differenrt genres of "core". It's not about the music anymore it's all scene, and which band has the most people coming to the show, and these kids don't even like heavy music. Trendy assholes who just go to shows because it might be "cool". It was never COOL to listen to hardcore, i used to get picked on because i liked metal, and hardcore, but you show up at a show, you know your with family. That if any bad shit went down, evryone has eachother's back. NOW Their is this gang/ band what ever, who call themselfs f.s.u. witch stands for fuck shit up. All they do is try and start fights at shows so they can call their boys to stomp them 10 to 1.
Back when club 121 in brocton was open. I saw hatebreed, blood for blood, xxl, brawl park, no regret, punch the clown, and a whole bunch of other bands. the most you would have to pay..... is 7$ MABEY if like hatebreed was playing. now they want 12$ to see some REAL crappy local band that may or may not be hardcore.

Haha amen on the "i used to get picked on because i liked metal, and hardcore, but you show up at a show, you know your with family." its always been the same for me too. however your knowledge of FSU is a bit askewed.
F.S.U. Stands for "Friends Stand United" not "Fuck Shit Up", they are a crew started by members the bands, Blood for Blood (Chabo), Righteous Jams (Elgin), Death Before Dishonor and many other boston based hardcore bands. They are not there to start fights but in fact to police the shows. Now you can find members of F.S.U. in every state (they are huge in Portland, ME). Unfortunaly they have received a lot of bad rep recently due to the Media making hardcore shows and their participants look bad. There are F.S.U. members at just about every single show i go to and I have not once seen them give people shit that the didnt deserve, sure if your a disrespectful to them you'll get your face beat in but that will happen if you disrespect pretty much anyone at a hardcore show! In truth most F.S.U. members are really friendly, I've met a bunch of them, talked to a few and they are just sincerly nice dudes, and I respect them a whole lot because the hardcore community has a lot to owe to them, they are the reason why nazi skins dont come to hardcore shows in boston anymore, they are the reason why we have half the venues in and around boston (including romans and the cambridge elks), and they are a big reason why you can feel safe when going to a show (in fact they are the bouncers and the door people for most shows). I remember about 2 months ago i was at a show in hudson, ma and this kid got knocked out unconscious after stage diving, the band nor did many of the kids realize it happened so they continued playing and dancing but the F.S.U. members did notice so they ran out into the pit and protected this guy on the floor while they got the band to stop playing so they could get him out of there safely.
Hopefully this clears up the misconceptions about the F.S.U.!!!

Hardcore is a friendly environemnt, everyone at a hardcore show usually understands that if they get hit it by accident, i do not under any circumstances hit people on purpose, yes i crowd punch but i do not intentionally hit any one, very few people do, i respect your position on it as i dont know wheere your from but a little FYI thats not why we dance here in mass... keep it posi brother!

At the show I played tonight, there was some douchebag who wasn't even in the pit. He was behind the pit doing his stupid karate punching. The only thing he did was crowdbash, and he punched people in the face and shit, even women he punched. I was about ready to bash his skull in with this heavy ass pot handle I had with me. But this little fucking kid, he looked like he was about 11 hit him in the back with a fucking chair! Then he booked all the way to his house and had the balls to come back. The Kid crowdpunching sounds like a douchbag, there are quite a few of them out there now, at the show I was at friday night this kid i know was crowd punching and hit my girlfreind dead in the face and gave her the bloody nose of her life! Granted she's awsome and once she realized her nose wasnt broken she started laughing, she wasnt pissed off at all though, the people running the show (one of our friends) even asked if she wanted the dude kicked out but she understands the risk and just said, "thats what i get for comming to a hardcore show."
I crowd punch too but there are some kids who do it to acctually harm people and thats lame! When you crowd punch your generally supposed to punch over the crowd just low enough to scare em and if they just so happen to move and get hit thats there fault. The kid you mentioned who hit the crowd puncher with the chair, although the kid crowd punching may have deserved a beating, a chair is a bit excessive. The venue i was at on friday even had a sign that read "CHAIRS ARE FOR SITTING NOT FOR HITTING" :p

The video did make me laugh though.
Hardcore is a lifestyle that revolves around the Hardcore Punk music Genre, there are a lot of fakes out there, often refered to as fasion core kids, who do not live the lifestyle but still do sometimes attend shows, however usually the 2 groups are seperated as fasion core kids attend more mainstream shows (such as bands like norma jean and atreyu who mind u arn't really even hardcore) and lack the understanding of what hardcore really is, while "true" hardcore kids generally attend underground shows (bands such as Bane, Righteous Jams, Have Heart, Guns Up!), to the outside world these shows would often seem chaotic and like half this thread lables it "stupid." but in reality the dancing and running around that goes on at these shows is extreemly organized and generally pretty safe. Not to say that there isn't a risk of getting hurt, like I mentioned above, my girlfriend got punched in her face at a show on friday and got one hell of a bloddy nose! However she did not retaliate against the person who punched her because she undersands the risk that you take when you go to this type of show. Hardcore however isnt just about the shows but also about the way you live, its about unity and pride for onself and each other, there is a saying that most hardcore kids take to heart "Friends, Family, Forever". For a better understanding (somewhat in the form of a rant) check out post #24 in this thread.

Sorry xmordeciax. I wasn't calling the hardcore scene stupid. Just the dancing. I've got no problem with hardcore kids or hardcore music. Just the dancing. It seems pointless to swing your arms and legs for a good 5 minutes before completely tiring yourself out.
Its all good, Kylay, no hard feelings. I just get a bit worked up when people judge a lifestyle and no nothing about it. Kinda like politicians vs. stoners!
Man, hardcore dancing is the most idiotic form of "dancing." Actually, I'd be inclined to say it isn't dancing. It's artless, and makes people look like morons. It makes you all look like you think you're cool because you can punch the air, and do random kicks at the air. Well, you're not cool. rofl.

Stop being so close minded, hardcore is a lifestyle! The way the kids choose to dance is thier choice, if you dont like it then dont go to a show! i personally think it is and art and its beautiful. And guess what, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Man, hardcore dancing is the most idiotic form of "dancing." Actually, I'd be inclined to say it isn't dancing. It's artless, and makes people look like morons. It makes you all look like you think you're cool because you can punch the air, and do random kicks at the air. Well, you're not cool. rofl.
None the less I did my part to inform, but I guess ignorence concours over all, huh?

I'm ok with the hardcore lifestyle. Being friends, and sticking with eachother is all good and shit. Most of the new hardcore music is shit in my opinion, except for some moshcore like Hatebreed and FBC. The main reason I hate hardcore though is because I can't go to a metal show without some dumbasses punching air. At the Municipal Waste show people were 2stepping, at the Suffocation show people were dancing, and at the Belphegor/Krisiun show people were dancing. Keep your kung fu at the hardcore shows!

I hear that, a lot of new shit is crappy, but theres a bunch of good local bands emerging out of the scene where I come from. As far as people dancing at metal shows... thats just lame! I dont like it when some kid comes to a hardcore show and starts head banging or push pitting, i say let the metal kids have their fun at their own shows and let the hardcore kids have their fun at the hardcore shows... it sucks when people just dont know whats up... BTW, what band are you in? Got a band myspace or somthing?

I'm in www.myspace.com/ashoursturntodays (http://www.myspace.com/ashoursturntodays)
The guitarist calls it Deathcore, but alot of our songs sound pretty hardcore. Once we play a few more shows and get some recordings up on myspace, we are going to record a demo. We just started and are already getting some positive feedback from the locals. Our real hardcore scene is basically dead, everything that is "hardcore" is really some form of deathcore. I'll post a topic once we get a recording up so you can hear.

We have a show coming up playing with Dr. Acula and IDALA whoever they are. I don't like Dr. Acula, but a show with a signed band is good no matter what. We'll get alot of people there.

Their are lots of hard core dance(if you realy wana call it that its term is moshing, were not classical waltzing were doing the killer waltz) Here are some examples
Sik of it all pit 2006- 1:25min into video this is the greating or bravehart pit(I like greeting pit better cause this is how we all say hi or hello; how we great or meat eachother-lots of hardcore dancing here
YouTube - Sick Of It All pit!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duRH5s8kbP8&feature=PlayList&p=7FA4BB20EBFFB6D7&index=79)
Soulfly 2005- 10sec. into vid this is the earthquake its name comes from the feel of the ground but mostly the energy felt at the show- no hardcoredancing here
YouTube - Soulfly refuse resist (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkbKFmXyg0Q&feature=PlayList&p=EE8ED9CF4A6EE198&index=86)
:pimp: HateBreed 2002- About 1:00 flat into the vid is a good circle pit. thid is what its allabout this vid is what defines HardCore BaddAss Shit to me. This is what all the good shows look like here-very little hardcore dancing here
YouTube - Hatebreed - I Will Be Heard Live @ Hellfest 2002 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2YKn3-77ao&feature=PlayList&p=7FA4BB20EBFFB6D7&index=74)

i love going to slayer, or lamb of god show and watching the hardcore kids try to dance. 2 seconds of them kicking air and then some 300 lb guy comes running through the pit and bowls them over. HAHAHAHA they get up all pissed like "why would he do that i was dancing here!".
When my friends and i went to the extreem steel tour, (slayer, static x, pantera, morbid angle, and scrape) while we were walking in there were some young kids in front of us, and we could hear them talking. one said "do you think the pit is going to be nuts?" he freind answerd "not like the bush show, these guys are old and no one will pit to this kind of music." what a treat slayer had in store for them. The entire floor at the worchester centrum looked like a swirling vortex of pain. nevermind when pantera playes hostile.

Haha harcore...homocore..queercore blahdy blahdy blah. Stupid ass cult, and their dancing techniques. They are there to police the shows! Sorry last I checked I went to punk shows in Austin because maybe that was a place where I would lease be oppressed by anything. Like teachers, cops. I wouldn't wanna bunch of meat heads dancing around like prick ass balerinas (sp?) policing anyhting I WENT to. Just a bunch of people at the show could grab the guy and throw his ass in the back, I mean that what i've seen and grown accustomed to. Oh and the music sucks. I though hardcore was like 7 seconds, and like minor threat and shit. not some guy in his sisters pants or the dude who just got an honourable discharge from the army and takes it out on a 14 y/o at some shitty over priced show with shitty bands.

chances are the kids who wear there sisters pants to shows don't know a lick about hardcore...
Its like the movie SLC Punk! when Stevo is in the mall and is talking about punk rock in the 80's in Salt Lake City and he goes to explain the difference between punks and posers... " Posers are people who look like punks but they did it for fashion... and they were fools they'd say shit like... ''Anarchy in the UK'"
... well there are a lot of posers in this scene, probably more posers then there are true hardcore kids, and we have the pop culture to blame, they came in and started signing bands, made them sign contracts, ruining their music. AFI is a perfect example... they were originally a east coast hardcore band, and a very good one at that. But then they were bought by a label completely changed their music, called them emo, and made them suck and then 6 years down the road the record labels saw money to be made in this hardcore thing so nowadays you can all of the sudden get hoodies from AFI that say east coast hardcore on them, despite the fact they are in no way hardcore anymore! (hence why Anti-Flag has a song named "Davy destroyed the punk scene", its about Davy Havoc from AFI)
My point being, the way you are perceiving this scene from the outside looking in is creating a biased view, I remember when i first heard hardcore music, i didn't even like the sound of it, but once you go to shows and you come familiar with the hardcore community it grows on you!

In my opinion, I really don't like the newer hardcore. I hate how it has changed from good stuff like Black Flag and Bad Brains to With Honor and CDC. There are still some good hardcore bands around like Common Enemy and Caustic Christ, but they are rare.

These pits at these shows are a lot different than I am used to. I go to a lot of hardcore "punk" shows or psychobilly or ska/punk shows and the pits are way different.
I would say what bands but I dont feel liking typing that much tonight.
