well, i have some very depressing news. we've been having a small financial problem of late, due to the diner keeping me out for three weeks... anyway, i went to get assistance with the power bill, and lo and behold, my power consumption is questionable.
so i have spent all of this day harvesting, killing, cleaning, disposing, packing, removing, hiding.....and then some
i'm shut down temporarily, i have only four moms now, one bonzai, one just reveged, one just topped yesterday, and one just rooted, not reveged. it's so sad... but i kept the winners (and i have one black dom to try and reveg... fingers crossed) these guys are either going outside, or to a friends until we get this sitch under control.
when i start again, i will be starting with dwc, no dirt (cept for the moms) but i may only do three or four individual buckets. i understand the downside, and if i can get a setup together and working properly, i may do a full run. regardless, this seems to be the perfect opportunity, a sign if you will.
we harvest over 11lbs of wet weight this morn, only four were close, to of those actually ready. depressing; i may have to trade the dealer...
all that work.... *sigh*

Just tell any nosy busy-bodies you operate an electric kiln periodically to make things to sell to help bring in surplus income. I too was questioned about my $300 elec bills when I received a letter asking about possible problems with the house electrical wiring/system and I told them just that...I'm a part time potter (lol, not far from the truth there) and use an oven usually only during the cooler times but sometimes I have orders needing to be filled and must run it during the day too. This was 3 years ago and there have been no questions since.

PS...it wouldn't hurt to actually have a kiln too. I bought one through craigslist.com for 250 bucks and it works! Too bad I don't know the first thing about clay, LOL, but it sure makes a mighty fine pizza!

That fukn blows Sis .
In due time w/ the dwc thing . It's fairly easy to get 3/4 lb. from a single bucket and do them in pairs under a horiz. 1000 w hps . Even w/ your limited headroom .
Stay safe Sis.

Sorry to read about your difficulties. I understand how frustrating that must be.
I have faith you will be back in business soon. This is a temporary setback. Keep your chin up.

Look in Bluebears waterfarm dwc club thread .
You'll see 4 buckets under 2000 watts yield 3 lbs. lol . You do the math . And if the price is right , I can teach you my ancient chineese secrets too young grasshopper .
Peace

This 1 was 17 ounces after trim and cure BTW .

thanx guys, and you can bet your bong that i'm coming back strong, if not stronger than ever! the shitty part is that the grow has nothing to do with the op! we've had power bills like this since we moved into this house, and i stopped using llights and appliances that were equal to the amount of power used by the lights, fans, etc.
sux, but better safe than sorry. i'm just glad i havent started my new line of genetics; i'd be super pissed! but, i have a dreamgoddess mom (crispi, she's unbelievable!), an ak48 mom, a hazeyjack mom, an afghan mom, and a haze mom (just rooted, hasnt' started revegging yet). sage is gone now :( but i do have some of her offspring, which turned out absolutely amazing! the cola was bigger than a softball this morning!!
here's a pic...
the blueberry mom's have also been nixed, as has trainwreck. so those are long gone. i have bb beans, but nothing of the tw, i was going to breed her next go round.
but, as i said, when this is all over, i'll be coming back, and better than ever

Aww that's terrible Scarlet, but it's good to hear you'll be able to bounce back soon. I think you should find a good home for the moms, outside is risky too.

HEY I like you so I'm making sure you realize,
DONT just start shutting everything off.
Think about it, they say hey your power usage is exceeding normal amounts,
and then RIGHT after that it goes down a hundred bucks?
If they're smart, they'll know you're scared and obviously doing something.
So taper it off slowly, ya?

that sucks scarlet...sorry to hear about this...I'd honestly provide a legitimate reason...pottery kiln was a great idea..we've started using a couple of high wattage flood lights at night to light up outside area..something..
I guess you may be better safe than sorry though..Crispi..that plant makes me jealous...

1cron, i have them outdoors on a 15 acre track. they are hidden in the waywardness of a giant hemlock, sufficient until i can retrieve them.
inferious, what we did was go back to the way things were before the grow. we've been conserving power equal or more than the usage of the grow, so our bill has been plus or minus fifty bucks for almost three years now. we'll keep it level, thanx though! if i didn't know that, i'd deffinitely need to...
mark, one step into our house and these guys will think, "no damn wonder" i don't think we have an unused outlet in the whole house! *exageration*
hound, that's life for ya... maybe i'll win the lotto tomorrow :D

you know it! i'm not sweating it too much, like i said, this is my opportunity to try hydro, after the dust settles, and i have some new stock to try, my first choice, a strain of alaskan decent, not sure of the lineage, but reportedly mind boggling...:D high, high hopes...

Made???? how the hell do they send a letter asking about possible electric "problems"??? Are they thinkin you got a leak >????.........LMAO
For y'all that grow, setup paying the damn bill electronically. The juice company never sees, you never get paper bill, and everyone is happier than a pig in shit. The ONLY way you ever come across their radar screen is if you do not pay bill. If you had someone stickin money in your bank account every month, would you mess with >??????? This aint Chinese Calculus.....
OK, I'll stop this now......I am going to check to make sure I dont have any electric leaks.....

bonger, the only reason they are looking now, is because we had to get help paying the light bill, we were two months behind. they seem to think that we have a meter prob, or bad wiring, or that we're doing something illigal.

Boo, electric company being all weird. Hint: SPACE HEATER!!! I plugged one into my 12/12 outlet that is on its own dedicated timeclock in the cellar, right off the panel... if anyone wants to know, it's because I have no heat in my attic and sleep up there. How else do you explain a 40a timeclock? lol
Yay, finding out with enough time to save your moms...
And yay for grow buddies who will all chip in and send you genetics when you get back up and running girliegirl!

i'm soooo glad i was able to save the mom's of my favs... i have this unknown haze cross that is sooooo spectacular! omg, you wouldn't believe... or would you? that's the one that is yet to reveg, and is the only one still indoors. i had to downsize big time, but at least i saved the best :D
and as for explaining the power, when we started the grow, our power bill went down. you see, we don't have a heat pump, and were heating the house with a buck stove and space heaters. once we got the lights, we used lamp and ballast heat to heat the bedrooms, eliminating the 1500w bastards! so our power bill on average has been 50-75 dollars lower than it was before... but, they still have to stick their nose in our biz, so we'll be as hoggy as possible. wait till they see the two refridgerators and two freezers...
tokalot, thanx for the support, and you can bet your bong

well, all's lost but my special haze plant clone; my moms got frost bit, my harvested buds seem to be molding due to lack of ventilation, and another one of my dogs died. we burried her yesterday.
gotta fucking love it.

Oh sweetie, I am so sorry to hear of all your troubles! It sounds like you are experiencing multiple shocks, and all you can do is try to get through them. Better times will come around eventually, but until then know that some of us are thinking comforting thoughts for you and wishing we could do more - is there anything I could do for you to help?

Damn scarlet, luck has something against you this month..what hasn't gone wrong for you? Remember, always look at what you do have..and that you're not sitting in jail waiting for a court appearance on manufacture w/ intent to distribute or some shit...
I hate losing animals..they're basically like children who don't talk as far as I'm concerned...we used to have the most kickass golden retriever..I miss him.
Give it time, you can re-grow your flowers. Let us know if things start to look better for you.
Happy easter!
