i have an ebb an flow tray and its covered with pond liner (a few little light leaks here and there but 96% covered... lately i started noticing the nute bucket which is also lightproof to start smelling like shit so i kept changing the nutes every couple days (such a headache) then i realized it was coming from the ebb and flow tray. the plants are about 4 weeks into flowering and i was wondering if it would be safe to take them all out and clean the trays and also possibly dip there roots in buckets of fresh water to clean them off too.. i was going to put hygrozyme in it to help cleanse but if not then just use water.. is this safe to do or is the plant goin to go into shock? i have to clean it the smell is so nasty i think its a combo of the roots and the tray not having been cleaned what do i do???????

Flush it out with a PHed H2O2 solution....1/2 cup 3% for 10 gal or so.

immediately followed by a fresh straight dose of nutrients as directed...No additives. maybe a few drops of superthrive, but sounds like you have a root rot problem stinky roots...ummm

whats an h202 solution??? can i just flush them out with water? if i take all the plants out and dip them in a bucket of fresh water to clean them out then clean out the whole tray and everything will that help if its root rot? the roots are very thick and white but there might be like a lil bit of water here and there in the tray thats causing the rotting kuz its not draining properly.. . but how do i flush it the easiest way? shoudl i take them out or should i just flush it through the system and let it clean it liek that?

3% H2O2 is the fancy scientific smart stoner way of saying Hydrogen Peroxide. Go to your local drug store or anyplace that sells medical stuff and buy a litre of Hydrogen Peroxide (3% is what is most common), it is cheap and only costs like $2 for a litre.
I am not very fimiliar with the Ebb and Flow system (I know how to build em and work em, I just don't have one), but I think you should just get a cheap rubbermaid 18 gallon container, fill it with 2/3 water and H2O2 (2/3 cup or so), then stick your pump in and run it. Let it fill up the system and let it run for a bit. The flow of cleaning water should wash out the system, sterilize it to a point, and get it smelling clean again.
Then after that, use a fresh batch of Nutes & Water and run it for a short time just so your plant's roots will be left with nutes instead of oxygenated water.

Rolf fancy smart stoner!! haha
H202..... i wouldn't consider that to be a smarter way of saying hydrogen peroxide, any one who has taken a high school chemistry class should know what h2o2 is..
is o2 a smart way of saying oxygen..?
sorry i had to make a crack about that, it just to some people so cut and past.

 It's all good!
Wouldn't it be like dihydrogen-dioxide?
All I remember about H2O2 is that one of the O's goes away and bonds with a free O and they create O2, the stable oxygen molecule! That and they totally pwn infected things...

Gotta love free them radicals....Its really amazing how close people and plants really are when speaking about nutrient absorption and stuff, whens the last time you tested your PH? Lockout occurs in people as well and is one of the leading causes of sickness and nutrient deficiencies. Read up on organic apple cider vinegar and the benefits it has. Best thing iv ever done.
