Specifically Lexapro. I've been given a 7 wk supply of 10 mg Lexapro, and I've been smoking for a year.
I believe the "diagnosis" will be "situational depression" and the meds will be temporary but I really like the relief my weed gives me. Basically I'd have to stay buzzed 24/7 to get the relief I need from it. And with 2 kids at home that is not an option. I much prefer to wait until they're in bed and my husband is home.
If anyone can tell me how they felt on both I'd greatly appreciate it. I do understand that both the meds and the weed affect different people differently, I'm just looking for "don't do it, that's a stupid idea" or whatever else you have to offer.

Ive been on lexapro since the 1st of January, ive also been smokin herb daily with it. Ive felt normal with it, im takin 20mg's of lexapro too and it doesnt make me feel any diff than if it was just weed. Although i had such severe depression it was causing ulcers in my stomach lining. So who knows you might react differently, im thinking with only the 10mg's youll be fine, i can drive on my lexapro and rillo fine.

i've never taken lexapro, but i've taken high doses of other SSRI's and smoked weed, and my brain didn't explode. the antidepressant should lift your mood and outlook overall, and i would use the weed as a "boost" when you need to.
also, i'm not a doctor, but one day i'll work in medical research and study this stuff. people need real answers.

I never had Lexapro, but I took Zoloft for about a year, and smoked for about six months while I was on it with no problems.
I don't understand why you only have a 7 week Rx. I was under the impression that SSRI's takes at least 4 weeks to start working, and longer for a positive therapeutic effect.
The marijuana can deplete serotonin, but this effect will probably be reduced significantly by the Lexapro.
Currently, I use a little 5-HTP, which is a precursor to seratonin and is available over the counter in drug stores and mail order, a little Xanax from a Rx once to three times a week, and no weed at all lately. I also take fish oil, Krill oil, and other supplements. I'd like to take extra Magnesium, which is also very good for the nervous system, but I have to find a type that does not upset my digestive system. In the meantime, I get some Magnesium in my multivitamin and foods.
Good luck.

I currently take 15mg of Lexapro, and 450mg of trileptal for depression/anxiety. Lexapro really helps with my depression/anxiety. Its really helped me alot. My mom took lexapro and she couldnt stand it all depends on the person. So far only side effect has been worsening of insomnia. It might not be best for you though since you are dealing with short term depression. You could develop a physical dependence to lexapro and could possibly suffer withdrawls, and also could develop SSRI discontinuation syndrome. "Double-blind controlled studies now indicate that 35-78% of patients who, after five weeks or more of treatment with the medication, abruptly stop certain antidepressants or titrate down in 10mg increments or more, will develop one or more of the discontinuation symptoms."
I also am a medicinal marijuana patient and it has been a lot of help for me along with antidepressants. I haven't noticed any interactions between the two.
Good Luck!

Thanks all for the information!
I need to clarify, I actually have an 8 week supply of samples, and if it is working for me at the 6 week mark then I will get a precription for it.

You shouldnt mix the two
it is potentially harmful to your health
the two drugs are totally different weed being a DEPRESSANT
and you are trying to get better using an ANTIDEPRESSANT
it just doesnt make sense

for the record, I haven't noticed any ill effects. I usually only smoke before bed anyway. The anti-d's seem to be keeping me awake, so smoke a bowl, relax, and I'm ready for bed an hour later. So as far as I'm concerned it's all good.
