It was a very good movie imo and actually made me cry when I seen the sceens of Jesus being beathen and put up on the cross. Anyone else seen this movie? What did you think?

I really enjoyed the movie but found some of it very graphic. I know it was suppose to be :) . Disturbing in a good way.

Yes it was very graphic, that beating was the worst beating I have ever seen. To me it was a very diffucult but moving thing to watch.

Another example of how ridiculous religion, in this case Christianity is.
Supposedly the movie depicts exactly how Jesus of Nazarath was handled by the Romans. Except no human could live through such torture. He would have been dead long before he was crucified.
More nonsense, violence, and mind control courtesy of the Church.

The human body is a amazing thing and it can take alot more than what some people think. I was watching a show on the discovery channel, I believe, and it was talking about Jesus being crucified. He was only on the cross 6 hours before he died, which is unusal because most people on the cross take days or even weeks to die. He died on the cross is such a sort time because of the beating he had endured before hand. He bled out internally.

Stop trying to reconcile a myth with reality. It's a waste of time. There is no way to know how long Jesus was on the cross. The Bible is a terrible source for historical accuracy. It is a fairy tale.

^^ Im not trying to "reconcile a myth with reality" IMO the bible is not a "fairy tale" and it does have good historical accuracy. There are people and places mentioned in the bible that are backed up by archaeological findings. The bible cannot be proven nor disproven it all has to do with faith. My thread was about the movie not your personal distaste of religion or the bible, and I would like to keep it that way.

Heh....this thread made me remember stuff that happened today in my shed. I was sitting toking away peacefully but the shed was really hot and smoked out, I was listening to music aswell. A few joints on and a random weird al(i think) type song comes on the mp3 player "what if god smoked cannabis"....as soon as it played I felt this great coolness....it was amazing.

He didnt create that kind of religon the people who follow it did. There are bad people in all cultures, communitys, and religons. Its not Jesus's fault that alot of people take it to the extreme and out of context.

Actually, if people would actually follow what he taught, the world be a better place, but as is, Christianity is a bastardized religion that causes great conflict among it's members and non members alike. People tend to speak w/o any understanding of Jesus at all. They ASSUME that todays Christians represent the attitude of the Christ man, but that couldn't be further from the truth, imo.
Jesus was da man!! ;)

yes it is.
If david Koresh (sp) would have lived 2000 years ago hios brand of religion would be celebrated today just as well.

It was made by a Evangelical-Like person. Its all about the fire and brimstone of Modern religion. This is the kind of material that wars/zealots get the fire from. When you put the Painful moments and don't celebrate what being religious is about you miss the message.
God didn't send his son so we could see him for 6.50-$8.00 or rent it from blockbuster. God sent his son so that he could clear our plates of our sin if we place our belief in Him.
I am not even a moderate Christian and still feel I know more about the message that half the clergy. It seems is that they are all wrapped up in the story and effects of the Bible like some movie when they miss the whole message entirely.

If its all about "faith," you could have faith in anything.
For instance, I'm the messiah returned. It's true. Just have faith and do as I say. Don't ask for proof, just have FAITH!
Dro_Princess

I have faith that you're not the messiah.
I share that faith as well.
I agree alot of people over look what religon is really suppose to be about. Its suppose to be about loving one another and forgiveness. If everyone could just see that the world would be a better place.

Mel Gibson is a nut job and that is the reason i havnt seen this movie. He was just looking for a way to exploit peoples faith. If you are a true christian then you will base your faith on how jesus lived and not how he died. Of course him being crusified is a big part of the story, you should not bais your entire religon on his death. Basicley im bashing those people who saw this movie and then decided to become a christian because they are afraid of some physcos movie. What he diddnt tell you is how brutal the romans were in those days. Of course jesus got it worse it wasnt much worse compared to other crusifictions.

i've read the entire bible a couple of times, what does that have to do with anything? i can see where he's coming from... he is histories (and the bibles) 'greatest' (and i don't mean the best, i mean greatest as in spreading said word farthest) preacher of god.... so i can understand how someone would say he started the entire ignorant (imo) religion...
but i believe christianity was around far before 'christ' was supposed to of been around...

you can have faith in anything... like macroevolution! hey what do you know!!!
microevolution has been tested and proven.. nobody can argue survival of the fittest.
macroevolution takes faith since it cannot be tested to be proven.. and im not a creationist or anything. it is the truth.
i love diversity in thinking except when people get AROGANT and belittle the beliefs of others, whether it comes from the christian right or from the scientific athiests. it is just as wrong either way. it is comical when people bash the close-mindedness of the religious right and combat it with their own close-mindedness... ironic
you have become what you hate
