I expected the Suns to win this game. Because they really needed this game for confidence and to defend their home court. I didn't expect them to blow them away though..126-104 and shoot 64.8% from the floor. The Mavs hold a 6 game lead over the Sun for best in the west and I still think in a 7-game series that Dallas will prevail in the end with home court.

I didn't sweat the game too much, It still wasnt fun watching Nash and Stoudemire tire us up.. But I have a feeling this isnt gonna be the last time these two teams meet again.

Yeah kevin willis would be the oldest active player if he is picked up. He did not play in the 05-06 season.

Reasons not to like the mavs

1. Booing of Finley. How classless are mavs fans? How can you possibly boo a person who played NINE seasons duing the DARKEST of times and averaged 20pts/game. Never would San Antonians boo Avery Johnson.

2. Remember the 04 playoffs where Dirk openly ripped Dampier. He is not a team captain. A team captain would not do that. I prefer someone who leads by example.

3. Avery Johnson (nuff said)

4. How big of a bonehead move was it to trade Steve Nash....possibly The Games best pointguard of all time.

5. Not really a gripe, as it is obvious. Having Avery Johnson is like having Gregg Poppovich's play book.

Record means absolutely nothing in the playoffs.

I think its funny how people write off the spurs all the time. Everyone knows that the spurs play their best ball during the playoffs. Thats what a veteran club is. Its not so much that the spurs cannot be beaten.....but can they be beaten 4 times? Very difficult.

Way to rep the West last year with that piss poor performance in the finals.

I am more afraid of the Suns than the mavs. Once again, everyone would be singing a different tune if GINO hadn't fouled dirk. Save that stupid foul, Spurs would have put the heat away in the finals and repeated. Lets not lie to each other.

It's funny you say records dont mean anything in the playoffs, but a single win does. That's why I didnt put to much stock in todays game.

Reasons to like the Mavs:

2006: playoffs

Spurs 3 < 4 Mavs

Mavs 4 > 2 Suns

2007: 1st seed in the west

The Mavs miss the Suns and Spurs in the 2nd round...

Meaning if the top three teams in the west win there 1st round playoff series.

The Suns and Spurs play each other in the 2nd round.. That'll take a toll on the winner for sure...

Yes. A season record means nothing. What matters is how you end the season. I don't recall any of the spurs champion ship season records. Doesn't matter. April 23rd 16 teams will have a level playing field regardless of season record.

Yes. Todays game meant alot. It is a preview of a potential playoff series. When they scheduled that game, they scheduled it on a sunday along with a pistons/heat game. ABC picked it up and was nationally televised.

If you don't come to play and expect to lose, you are going to lose. Avery Johnson does not fly into Phoenix expecting to lose. He expects to win. If you come to let the game slide, well then the playoffs aren't for you because you are going to get skunked like the mavs did today.

SKUNKED by a high powered offense. By your logic, no games left really count since these teams are already playoff bound. Wrong.

1993. Suns had the best record in the NBA by far. Noone remembers that because Jordan and Paxton buried them in game 7. Broke my heart. So no....season records do not matter.
