Hello, ladies! I have some questions for you guys about your bras. Mainly, I am wondering how long the average is that women keep their bras for. I overuse everything and won't get anything new till what I have basically has holes, but I can't do that for bras and I need to figure out how often I need to get new ones. I think I keep them for way too long.
1. Do you even wear one?
2. Where do you get them?
3. How expensive are they?
4. How long do you keep a bra?
5. Do you have a favorite bra?
Here's my answers:
1. Yes, I have to - 38DDD
2. I have to go to a specialty store because I need support. Its kinda crappy to have to do that, but its nice because every time you go in they size you again, they have extensive client records and know everyone by name, and they repair their bras if a wire breaks or something.
3. I wear three main types, ranging from $40-$60. I know, its a ton to spend on a bra, but I have HUGE TITS and don't want the elasticity in them to be gone TOO soon, so I want bras that support me fully. I also like having them in the right place for once, since they never are without a bra, so I like one that puts them up where they belong. ("That may be where God put them, but that sure isn't where he wants them!")
4. Well, like I said, too long! The five or so that I wear regularly now I have had for more than a year, except for one of them which is only three months old.
5. My favorite bra for support is the Le Mystere (Oprah.com Server Error (http://www.oprah.com/omagazine/olist/omag_olist_0383_acc.jhtml)), its amazing for women who are well-endowed. For being somewhat sexy and still supported, I like this: Wacoal America - Wacoal America (http://www.wacoal-america.com/viewdetail.html?table=bras&key=80). That's as sexy a bra as I can find that actually gives me enough support that it still feels like I am wearing a bra.
So, let me hear about your bra habits! And if you know of sexy bras that offer full support, let me know!

how about some visuals so we can get a better idea
LOL that's why this is in the women's forum and not the sexuality one....I have reservations about showing people anything, unlike a lot of people here, cause I don't want to be an attention whore and I always worry that if I post pics of myself people will think that.

yay a fun bra thread!
1. Do you even wear one?
Yup, I also have to. I even wear one to bed every night.
2. Where do you get them?
Usually at TJ Maxx or Marshalls or Filenes Basement or one of those last-season places; f'real, it's not like bras go out of style according to the season, I need to save my fashion budget for SHOES and lots of them, lol!!!
3. How expensive are they?
I typically spend $10 on them but you know, they have those little 'compare at $40' tags attached!
4. How long do you keep a bra?
Until the stupid underwire pops out. Stupid stupid stupid underwires, never secured right!!!
5. Do you have a favorite bra?
Well I have a couple faves, depending on what you mean... for support and comfort and jsut general awesomeness, a Natori bra (well, I own like 6 of them) that not only has the regular underwire but also little side stays and just does NOT move even though I wear it for sports, and has no seams. For all around cuteness, this milk-chocolate colored one with lace edges that makes my rack look ridiculously perky and I wear it with a somewhat matching lacy brown tank top that is cut lower than the bra, and a suit-jacket... rrowr.. that's what I met the Yeag at the airport in, lol... guess it's a good look... the visible-bra look can be hot and still classy but it has to be a pretty nice bra that isn't flimsy, or it just ends up looking trashy.

1. Yes I have to wear one, I dont want them slapping me in the face when I go down stairs.
2. Kohls, they have good sales
3. around $30, they dont really give me all the support I need though
4. My size changes a lot because my weight changes, so I keep them until they don't fit. I have one that I think is ready to retire though. its over a year old
5. yes a I have a favorite. its the one that pushes me up the highest

I had my first underwire break the other week. They pop out of the fabric a lot, but one actually broke on me! It hurt my side.
Do your straps ever fall? I have big problems with this, even with the perfect bra, because my shoulders slope down so much.
I think the exposed bra look is so hot, and especially when its paired with a suit-jacket. It's such a "I'm-really-a-crazy-hot-chick-but-you'll-never-know-it...." look!

They give you enough support? I have always thought that if it has a racerback and is supportive enough its gonna do what most sports bras do and give me a uni-boob, which is a dreaded fear of mine.

why dont they make pretty bras for bigger girls? I don't think its fair. We're the ones that have to wear one everyday! I have trouble finding bras that give me support in the right places so that my neck doesnt hurt

EXACTLY! Some of my friends with almost no chest have the cutest bras ever, and I just look at their bras and am like....that's just a flat piece of fabric that doesn't have anything to it...why do you even wear one?!?! Its annoying that we can't have anything cute.
We should design a line of bras. Good support for more well-endowed girls, and patterns like embroidered cherries and polka dots and pot leaves and joints and more things that we like!

1. Do you even wear one?
-Sadly, I really have to. I'm young so they're still perky but I'm also a D cup.
2. Where do you get them?
-Kohls mostly, but they never make cute ones in a D, so I end up getting C's and squishing my boobs in them, then eventually end up giving them away.
3. How expensive are they?
-No more then 20 bucks, 'cause I'm utterly poor ;)
4. How long do you keep a bra?
- Until it breaks or I lose it. I tend to lose bras A LOT.
5. Do you have a favorite bra?
- I wear a pink one constantly but I fell in love with a bra at Marshalls lol. It's red with this ruffley stuff on the top of it, very sexy and my boy's favourite colour is red :)

Used to do this when I was in high school. But then I started getting sick of the stuff that wouldn't fit in the smaller cup pouring out the top and the sides and looking really really weird under shirts.

1. Do you even wear one?
Yes, but only out in public or when company's over. At home in private, almost never. They're too restricting, and I sorta like what the nip visibility does to my husband. I'm a modest 34 C these days, which is really more like a 34 B+ to be honest, and the 34-inch part is loose. I'm modestly endowed and require only modest support.
2. Where do you get them?
Nordstrom, generally. I like a brand called Chantelle very much. It's comfortable and has smooth cups that look nice under clothing. Also provides good nipple coverage. I've tried Wacoal, which is sturdier than I need and a little too firm for my liking. Le Mystere is comfortable, but I still prefer the Chantelle. I'm currently into the one called the Chantelle Africa T-shirt bra. Makes me happy because it has a subtle animal print on the cups.
3. How expensive are they?
Far too expensive, if you ask me. That Africa bra ran me $82 at Nordstrom, which is absurd, but comfort is important in bras and shoes. I only own two of those African models. I have some older Chantelle models that I've had for, oh, five years and I still wear those, too.
4. How long do you keep a bra?
As long as humanly possible. I wash them on gentle in cold water and hang them dry and they last a long time. Then I keep wearing them even after they're long past their prime. I find that the elastic eventually gives out at about the five-year mark no matter how gently they've been handled.
5. Do you have a favorite bra?
The aforementioned Chantelle Africa bra. I also like a model called the Chantelle Senso T-shirt bra. And I like a Playtex bra (style 4419) called the Secrets Underwire Shaping bra. I like pull-over sports bras--just the JC Penney cheapos--for when I'm working out. Alas there's not much to jiggle, but I strap the girls in nonetheless.
Good girltalk thread subject, Vileox!!

1. yes, always at night, only time I dont wear one is in the shower
2. I get them at Sears, I buy the Vanity Fair ones
3. about $30
4. about a year, unless they break, lose their strechyness, or rip, or dont fit.
5. yeah, Im wearing it right now, its hot pink, but I dont like the ones with frills and bows and lace because when I put on a shirt, all that bumps out and I dont like the way it looks

Well, I went to the Nordstrom website to look at the Chantelle line (because I think you rock, Birdgirl, and you know so much!), and I think I am going to have to go to Nordstrom! They actually think out their bra lines, unlike most department stores, and Chantelle looks like it has some cute and full-figured bras. I can afford to get one or two bras that my boyfriend would actually like to see on me and not just to get off me!
Thank you BG for giving the best advice even where you aren't really giving advice!! (Did that make sense? :) )

Yeah, I want a cute bra that doesn't look weird under shirts but looks HOT HOT HOT without one on.

Yeah, yeah, overflow, that's the word...lol. I was having serious word-recall issues!
I don't wear one when I sleep, though I do wear one throughout the rest of the day. I am extremely extremely paranoid about my tissue loosing its elasticity cause I don't want them to be at my knees when I'm 30, so I always wear one in the house, just not to bed.

Do people often just walk into your room while you are sleeping? I sleep in just shorts, and I don't really worry about someone seeing my girls while I sleep. Should I? :wtf: (That was the best way I could come up with to represent paranoia...)

What kind words, Vileox, and I take that as a great compliment since, of course, you rock far more than I do!! Glad you liked the look of the Chantelle bras. They're so comfortable.
This thread reminds me again why it's nice to be grown and living in my own house with Dave and no one else (other than the pets and, during summers, our son). When it's just us two, I can go braless and sleep in nothing, which is my preferred mode of sleep, and it doesn't matter to anyone. When the boy is home from school, I'm more apt to sleep in a big t-shirt just because he has a habit of entering without knocking, and I think there's still a part of me that thinks I might need to respond in the night to some illness or sudden need for mom like I did during his growing-up years.

Don't get too big of an augmentation. Coming from first-hand experience with having tig ol' bitties (:D ), they get old after awhile. They hurt my neck and my back so much sometimes that I just have to lie down. I have known probably four women who got augmentations, and two of them went back and got a slight reduction. So just make sure you consider what size you go to for a while before you make the decision. :)

When I am home from college, my Mom tells me that she always notices that she is just a little more alert when sleeping then when I am not there. It makes me miss her so much more when I'm here.
I am so glad to live by myself now, and to have all the privacy and benefits that go along with that, but its hard!
