I think it's high time that the members here have a vote on extending the 5 minute deadline on editing our posts to 20 minutes. I'm not going for an outright lifting of the limit since editing a post a whole day later or something could really enable a person to screw up a conversation if they wanted to mess around. But damn, 5 minutes just seems a bit rediculous to me. So please vote on this most important issue that will undoubtedly change the course of all humanity.

Also, being added to the ballot is proposition 420, the ability to delete our own threads in case we feel they've become hijacked, or just regret bringing something up that snowball's into non-constructive conversation.

Agreed. But it gives us more Mod-like powers.

Not posts, just entire threads. I don't thionk they should enable people to actually mess up a conversation, just end one they started.

I kinda agree with the longer edit post time....but alot can happen in 15mins and it will give people the chance to mess around..

I think it's cool as it is....you just have to think about what your saying before you hit post....you can always add more later.

What I do disagree with is this "thumbs up/down" thing next to the threads....seems a little pointless to me lol and makes things look squashed

5 is way more than enough. Lucky you can even edit your posts.

I've frequented forums before (with a postcount exceeding 3,500) that have no limit at all on post editing, and no problems arose

proof·read(prfrd)

proof·read (-rd), proof·read·ing, proof·reads

To read (copy or proof) in order to find errors and mark corrections.

To read copy or proof for purposes of error detection and correction.

I'm against it.....we all have the ability to proof read our posts and in the case of moderating it would be a nightmare. If someone makes a b.s. post and it ends up being moderated I don't thing 15 min. later that user should be able to make the adjustments to make it our like he/she was just being picked on for no reason. Like that would happen right?

Have a good one!

a limit to delete our posts or threads: till someone posts after it.

we post a message, and regret it, we can delete it until someone else posts.

and 20 minutes? why not just 10 or 15 maybe?

Edit...

I think I am going to keep my mouth shut.

Exactly!

Still love ya mods. But this rule is silly.

But those forums, too much editing changes the dynamics of the postings.

As psycho said, proof read. :)

I proof read every post. Yet there is still 2 posts I have done that I used the wrong word or misspelled something and it still bothers me.

This is just my opinion. I will stay here no matter what happens. Best cannabis site on the Net.

Okay did anyone notice what happened above?

I typed my original reply, waited 3 minutes and then edited it. While I was doing this thcbongman hit quote and forever immortalised what I originally wrote.

If someone says something inappropriate or offencive, just click quote and then type "that is rude" or something.

Even if they edit the original post, because someone quoted the original post before it was edited the original post can still be read.

Don't like what they say? Click quote and it will be there for all to read. Then you can report it to a mod.

VERY valid point and example here.....never know. Nice post!

LOL...the bottom line is you guys have given sundance. PLENTY of feedback regarding this issue, so there's no more to do...but for god's sake, is it REALLY that big a deal?

thcbongMAN is right with his post. We're not allowed to go back and change history now, are we?

I just think this is a very petty issue, but that's just me...

heres my thought. i dont really care about the five minute edit time. but if you are going to make changes, why not make the ones the members want instead of making the site look different all the time and not really doing anything to better it?

I smoke pot.

I'm lucky I can do ANYTHING within five minutes.

just saying.

I write long explanations in the grow forums, and edit the entire page in less than 5 minutes after proofreading posted reply. so I know that 5 minutes is enough.

Site Security. Period...regardless of your poll.
This is why Mods and Admins get into pissy attitudes. We have a 5 minute edit time limit. Above someone was full of crap...There are many sites that you have less edit time, or none at all.

If you don't like it leave.

Suhl what right do you have to preach at the Owner to leave the site alone...Buy your own, then you can set boring default theme with no options, and remain boring.
Sundance has the right to check out and display all the options offered in his control panel. I change my sites around seasonally.
Damn selfish People.
