i made a hunting thread awhile ago, and it turned into a big shit slinging fest, so please dont do it to this one, if you dont like hunting, dont read it,
anyways, its getting nice out and its almost spring gobbler time, i cant freaking wait for that, but what im really stoked about is the wwoodchucks are coming out of their holes, theres nothing i liike more than sitting under the tree all day sipping suds taking potshots at woodchucks.

anybody else into hunting? (if you're not please keep it to yourself)

billionfold~ thats hunting in a nutshell. during bucks season i see squirrels grouse and rabbits freaking EVERYWHERE, but no bucks. and during small game season, i see eight point monsters, but no small game. sometimes its frustrating.

the trick is to know where to hunt for what.

squirel hunting is one of my favorites types of critter blasting, usually where theres one theres two, and they're pretty good eating as well.

One of these days I'll get my archery up to speed enough to go after turkey... mmmm... turkey...
I'm a decent shot already but not good enough to hunt.

I enjoy shooting gophers here with my pellet gun. :p I used to do it when I was younger too as they'd destroy our gradens.

As for hunting with guns, I've never shot a real gun in my life. I'm not against it at all if the animal will be eaten, but guns alone make me nervous.

Pellet guns are sure fun though!

bow hunting is on my list of things to get into, as is fishing. i went fishing a lot when i was younger with my pop but then life got in the way and i moved away and got away from fishing, this year im going to get back into it.

i went out today to sight in my new scope its a Leupold VX-1 4-12. i like it, i like it a lot. i took it down to the local gun shop and got i bore sighted, that made a big difference, i got a group about the size of a skoal can, not too bad, but i'd like to find the right load to be able to put it through the same hole at 150 yards.

stinky~ im amazed , you like guys that wear carharts and have chainsaws AND you bowhunt, word!

boar hunting is where its at, followed by whitetail.

the seasons over though so for now i stay in my neighborhood and breakout the old blowgun for some squirrel. believe it or not, theres a guy who gives me $7 per squirrel.

I hunt whitetail and grouse mostly. My familys got a nice piece of land in upper wisconsin here I do most of my hunting on. I love bird hunting more than anything. Im not really into bow hunting but my dad keeps draggin me back into it and I cant resist blazing up with my uncle.

I believe if you're going to kill it you should eat it otherwise don't kill it.
I hate "trophy" hunters.

Not really into hunting other than knockin the tree rats outta my pecan trees. I do love to go shot tho...targets, tin cans, etc. Just got my 30-06 back from getting a trigger job... had the gunsmith take it from "2 grunts and a groan"(7 1/2lbs) down to 3 3/4lbs. The differance is like night and day. Now I have 5 shot groups at 200 yards the size of a fifty cent piece.

The .243 goes in the shop next :D

Up here on the farm there is quite a lot of fox hunting goes on, we really need to put an end to it, the rabbits are beginning to complain.

On a more serious not, yes we do hunt but really just for pest control, pigeons and crows at the moment although I do sit out in the barn plugging rats and mice with my CO2 pistol as well.

Cheers

I had to buy a .410 shotgun ...just for English Starlings.

some dude back in the 1800's brought them over from England. They should have thrown him and the Starlings overboard, half way across...

Went at least you didn't go broke buying some cheap ass 410 shotgun. Looking at some of the cheap ass rifles out there these days is ridiculous. Some people just don't know quality guns. Cheap ass guns like made out of mostly plastic these days. Should throw all the cheap ass looser people over board who invented them and the cheap asses who buy them(probully 40 year old men who live at home with there parents and don't get any)

Prolly gonna go shoot this afternoon... just a little proficiency practice. Maybe blow up a soda can or 2. Don't know which weapons I am gonna take just yet.
