My beans are just starting to break the soil, I have a heat pad under the germ tray, shall I keep it on or take it off? Room temp is 78-80 degrees. Pad is said to raise the temp 10-20 degrees.
I have them about 3" away from 4' flors...is that about right?
When shall I put them under a 400 watt MH? Distance from plants?
THANKS!!

Hey hMaster,
Take the pad off if you'd like. They'll be fine.
If they're "just starting to break the soil", which I take it that they have a small tap root...
I suggest you keep your lights further away.
Don't pull the seed shells from the plant.
Again, don't pull the shells.
No, you're not helping it.
Nature has been doing it like that for eons.
The little thing still doesn't have proper leaves in order to use that light 3 inches away.
Take it away a little for the time being.
You can place the MH over them when they get bigger.
Distance from the plants should be hand comfort for you.
Place your hand under the bulb... at plant level, and see if you're burning.
If you are in fact burning, go get the fire extinguisher, put out the flames around your arms and/or body, and then move the MH further away from the girls.
You have a fan pointing at them, right?
Any pics possible?
:)

Gotcha, don't pull help the seed sprout....the ones that came up so far had fallen off right away.
Yeah, I have a small fan pointed at them, set to low. No pics just yet, I'll be happy to share when I can.
If keeping the heat pad is a benefit, I'll keep it on. I'll take it off if it's doing it harm. So you think I should take it off? Thanks again!

^^^^ Sounds good buddy.
Leave it on... take it off... flip a coin.
Let it decide. :)
They'll be doing fine :)
