That's it: can I wear brown boots with my black pants?! I'm a fashion ignoramus, and I'm worried it might be a fauxpas like white socks with black pants but I DON'T KNOW! Anyone got a sec to help a woman out?! You'll earn my awe in regards to all things fashion...

Supposedly people now wear brown and black together, but I think the rule is still against it.

But, its up to you. What the hell do I know anyway?

I see nothing wrong with it... black is one of those colors that go with anything...

Wear what you think is comfortable, not "what goes with what", that is my advice

Ya, hello3pat... that's generally my rule of thumb. But every now and then I have this urge to do the 'feminine' thing... I work at a mill so my everyday clothes are about as far from feminine as it gets. My problem is since I never do it, when I do want to go traditional feminine, I don't know how!! Argh!

You are a girl! You should be lecturing us in Devil's Prada fashion.

But I wouldn't do brown boots with black pants. Where exactly are you going to dress up?

Brown/tan pants with black shoes is fine. I got a few pairs of brown shoes, but I usually wear them with jeans. I don't think they really match anything else. . .

*sigh. Ya, freevenice, that's pretty well my opinion on 'em too. But I don't feel like getting changed and heck, how many people look at shoes? :p So I'll just header as is and try to pull off the confident thing so people don't think to question the outfit. Bongman... er.... um.... just because I have tits doesn't mean I have to know anything about fashion. I don't think that just because you were born a certain sex means you have to know a certain pile of things: that's like saying that because you're a man you should be able to chop wood or fix cars. I wish I did know more about fashion because in certain arenas and at certain times it comes in handy being able to dress up and fit in with a certain crowd, but I don't consider myself a failure just because I don't know whether brown shoes go with black pants. Guess I'm taking it all too serious, eh bongman... you were prolly just joking. And regards where I'm going: nowhere.... just wanted to dress up for a change and check to make sure I even still know how to put on makeup properly. Thanks for all your help... I'll try to acquire a pair of black boots for the next time I feel like doing this, which will probably be in a couple months so that should give me time to prepare. Cheerio!

this is what you should do. smoke a number go in the mirrior with the brown boots and black pants on and look at your self and ask the magic waba's in your brain if it looks alright or not. Then you shall find your answer

No, do not wear brown shoes with black pants, and especially not brown boots. Its like brown shoes and a black belt or vice versa for a man.

It depends, if your wearing slouch boots in a dark brown, or a light tan, with pitch black pants, they would work with a creamish colored shirt. if its like cowboy boots, dont
