Iranian forces seize British sailors

LONDON -- Armed Iranian forces today seized 15 British Royal Navy sailors who had searched a merchant ship in the Persian Gulf, Britain's Defense Ministry said.

Nader Daryaban, a correspondent in Tehran for the state-run daily newspaper Kayhan, said government officials had confirmed to him that the sailors had been detained. The officials would not disclose where they were being held.

"The Revolutionary Guards detained the 15 sailors while they were in Iranian water, not Iraqi's," Daryaban said the officials told him. "It is not the first time that the British transgress our water and inspect Iranian ships."

Britain said the incident took place in Iraqi waters, where it routinely boards merchant vessels with United Nations permission to search them. The Foreign Office summoned Iran's ambassador and demanded the immediate, safe release of the personnel.

As of this afternoon, there were no reports of the seizure on state-run Iranian television.

Now when the U.S. detained Iranian that were actually in Iraq the left in here went nuts..........well........this will either get no replies or alot of excuses for Iran.

Please forgive me if I don't find new ways of killing to be amazing. Even if it was only to be used in shooting down ICBMs, the money would be better off eliminating ICBMs all together to begin with. New weapons to counter new weapons will only lead to newer weapons needed to counter the last and is only a domino effect until we are extinct.

What do you think would happen if Iranians were found in our costal waters? They wouldn't bother to talk, just blow them to hell! If the Neocons are looking for an excuse, you can bet they'll find one even if they make one up, Oh no they wouldn't do that would they? Oh yes they would, and probably will. Just hope the world press keeps them honest. you can't trust our press any more, If you want news instead of right wing propaganda, you have to tune into Canada, or some other democratic country, like Germany, France Belgium, Switzerland, Spain etc, free countries that have their view of what the Neocons are up to. I thought that was what you lived for, kill them all, Nuke them out of existence. This could be your war cry, we must save the British, attack, attack! sounds like an excuse to me. (tonkin city) I'll reserve judgement for a few days, but it is awful convienient. I know one thing, that line between Iraqi water and Iranian water is pretty slim, could go either way.

As I understand it, the zone that the sailors were detained in is claimed by both countries and is very fuzzy.

Well, he is certainly removing our constitutional rights at a pretty good clip, spying on anyone he wants, politicizing federal judges (firing ones that won't adhere to the Bush agenda which is "fuck all democrats").
