Hey everybody,

I've been mulling over for quite a while whether I should quit or not. I realize this is a very personal decision but wanted your opinion.

I'll give you some background on myself:

-I'm a college student at a notoriously hard Engineering school
-I started smoking about 5 months ago mid semester and it did not seem to effect my grades
-I have never been caught and have a clean record

The reasons I am thinking of quitting are:

-On a diet to loose my few extra pounds due because of recent high blood pressure
-The munchies are coming on extremely strong now that I am dieting and I haven't resisted so well
-It's pulling me apart from my friends, over conflicts about who owes bud to who and who smoked you last
-Need to get a summer job at a new place and have no idea if I'm going to need to take a drug test
-Being treated for depression and unsure if bud effects my depression drugs
-Money is tight and tighter with 1/8's costing as much as $60 up here
-I'm failing a first class for the first time, probably just because its fucking hard not anything else

I don't want to give it up because:
IT'S FUCKING FUN!!!

I talked to one of our school's free councilors and she was cool not trying to make me quit just evaluate pros and cons. It looks like there are a lot more cons to the whole situation.

Weed has just brought on a lot of conflicts primarily between me and my friends. One guy in particular has the hookup and is always real secretive about how much he paid and got for that much. Every time I meet a dealer he seems to want to distance me from them so he can just deal with them. As far as I know he doesn't screw me on price because he knows me and my scale too well.

For instance today he was like yo I just got an O cause the supplier was at the house I was smoking at. I asked him how much he paid and he said, "well that's none of your business." I wasn't even going to buy some from him and he was gonna smoke me for free because he got it so cheap. I just felt turned off by this reaction... Yeah it might not be my business what you paid but I was curious so fuck off. Maybe he's afraid the rest of our friends will find out so he can't mark it up as easy.

Smoke on all.

Peace

if the cons outweigh the pros quit and take up later on...play around with it and get rid of it if you think its causing problems

Marijuana is not to blame. As far as diet, that is 100% a self-control issue. As far as interaction with other medication, cannabis does not. As far as money, you're right - it's expensive! I have never regretted a dollar I spent on cannabis - ever. Keep on tokin' :rastasmoke:

my writing in bold:

-On a diet to loose my few extra pounds due because of recent high blood pressure
-The munchies are coming on extremely strong now that I am dieting and I haven't resisted so well
just keep drinking a lot of water while high. or if it's easier, try sport drinks like gatorade. it really helps. it's all about self-control. don't blame the weed for eating (which i usually do too) and just keep thinkin that u can overcome the hunger. the feeling u get after u've come down and u feel a lil hunger and realize u didn't give in is such a great feeling.
-It's pulling me apart from my friends, over conflicts about who owes bud to who and who smoked you last
talk to the friend, and tell him how much of an asshole he is. if he's not a close friend, distance urself from him. it's not a problem of weed that's between u and ur friends... it's just... ur friends. and money.

but u kno what they always say about money and friends. they should never mix kuz it fucks everything up.

but from what i can tell, ur friends are assholes, period. money/weed involved or not.

-Need to get a summer job at a new place and have no idea if I'm going to need to take a drug test
well.. find a job that doesn't drug test. ask around. shouldn't be too hard.
-Being treated for depression and unsure if bud effects my depression drugs
u can always do some research online, and i highly doubt weed will affect ur drugs in a negative way. only reason to quit would be if weed directly makes u feel depressed/bad either while ur high or afterwards.
-Money is tight and tighter with 1/8's costing as much as $60 up here
cut down. lower ur tolerance if need be. not really a reason to quit cold turkey tho.
-I'm failing a first class for the first time, probably just because its fucking hard not anything else
if u feel weed isn't really affecting ur studies, then it's not a con. but if u find urself not studying or ditching or some other dumb shit in ORDER to smoke, that's when u kno u gotta draw the line. make sure u get ur work done, THEN toke up.

my two cents. :)

i'd put a stoner smiley face, but i'm sober as fuck right now trying to study for an exam haha
