Wow, that's amazing. They just make a crazy claim like one puff can cause you to develop schizofuckingphrenia, and what's their evidence? Nothing. Not one confirmed medical case. They would have mentioned something like that.

This kind of news should be making its way through the medical community like wildfire. Medical journals should be publishing the cases of schizophrenia caused by one puff of this super-weed, and they should be radically reorganizing their ideas of how the brain works. I mean, there are some doctors who believe cannabis can cause people who are predisposed towards schizophrenia to exhibit more severe symptoms. Any doctor in her right mind would not say that inhaling one puff of cannabis smoke could cause a perfectly normal mind to become schizophrenic. They wouldn't even say that smoking a dozen bowls of kief could do that. That's just crazy. The only studies that claim any kind of relationship between cannabis and schizophrenia are saying that long-term use seems to be correlated with higher rates of schizophrenia. That doesn't even mean that cannabis use necessarily causes schizophrenia; it could be that schizophrenics are more likely to smoke cannabis, or that some other factor makes people more likely to smoke cannabis and more likely to develop schizophrenia.

That sh*te is bogus. I have a mental disorder and smoke good weed and my mental disorder is not aggravated by the good weed. That article is propaganda and it simply demonizes the good green.

Weed will continue to get stronger as people selectively breed it. Immagine the kinds of weed we will have in America when weed is Legal? I don't know about you guys but I am going to always smoke till I die.

Bloody scousers! Bloomin northern monkeys haven't got a scooby doo! SUPER-strength cannabis so potent that just one puff can cause schizophrenia is being grown by Merseyside drug gangs. Oh really!? So just where is the evidence to back up this bogus claim!?

Research to be published this week in The Lancet is said to show skunk, which has high levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is more addictive and socially dangerous than class A drugs such as LSD and ecstasy. Lmao, more dangerous than LSD and ecstasy.........ok ma man!

Peace

I wasn't aware that LSD and ecstasy were significantly addictive in the first place. And the only way weed is "socially dangerous" is because it's illegal...if it wasn't for the ignorance of legislators and the general public about weed, there would be no negative social consequences at all.

Cannabis is not the harmless substance some people believe it to be.

of course the those with the most scientific knowledge of drugs are the police
..............

and damn do they expect ppl to believe this? i mean honestly i no alot of ppl are ignorant abt this sort of thing but this is reefer madness...

i wonder tho if their just being clever with their wording, like they say that it causes signs schizophrenia but they nvr rlly say wen or how long for.... look at wat they describe as the symptoms:
"Schizophrenia is a mental disorder where the sufferer struggles to tell the difference between real and unreal experiences, to think logically, to have normal emotional responses to others, and to behave normally in social situations."

that for the most part just sounds like a stoned person... so they mite not be lying exactly... just not telling the whole truth...

i hope that made sense

horror business
03-22-2007, 04:25 PM
Well like shoi said, they just described symptoms that can apply to many different mental disorders, and effects from different mind altering substances.

For instances, a symptom of TB is coughing, weed makes you cough too, so if they said "This weed, one puff causes TB", they might as well have said that, because their schizo argument is just as lame.

Unless it's a really potent psychedelic sativa, and only new smokers took a hit, and then had a bad reaction, and searched their symptoms on google, and found schizophrenia listed.

Yes. Making more potent weed is a way to make more money... Do they even think this shit out?

If you only need to take one hit and get so stoned you show signs of mental illness, wouldn't people smoke A LOT LESS of it? If I had weed as strong as they claim, a Q would last me a month.

I hate people.

Who TF thinks up this shit...

Actually, 'Ben Rossington' does, whoever the fuck he is. Must be pretty fucking clever to know about all these breakthoughs...

LSD, addicive? no. Ecstasy i a bit different, i've had a pretty nasty time flirting on the edge addicion in the past. However weed is 'worse' than neither of these.

'SUPER-strength cannabis so potent that just one puff can cause schizophrenia'
the most stupid thing i think i may have ever heard.

I just emailed him at [email protected]

"Dear Mr Rossington,

The recent article that you have written entitled "Police issue warning about super strength Cannabis" really disappoints me. By that I mean that it is absolutely, without a doubt, the worst piece of journalism that I have ever encountered. If you look at the facts, you will learn that not only is cannabis not addictive, but that it has no causal link to schizophrenia. There are not even words to describe how ignorant this piece makes you look. You are nothing but an unintelligent propaganda tool of the drug war, a brainless fool spreading the same disinformation like a fruitfly spreading feces. I even wonder how you managed to acquire a job in the first place(as if icliverpool were a reliable source for anything, anyway). What would you say if I told you that I have been using cannabis medically for two years under the supervision of my doctor(who is, by the way, much more intelligent than you), and that I am a perfectly healthy adult with an IQ of 140? I suggest that you try another profession, because journalism apparently is not working for you. "

You should all do the same. Give him hell.

My problem with this kind of thing - and the ignorant, narrow-minded attitude which causes this all - is that, in my opinion, the potency of Cannabis is completely irrelevant. The real question - the only question - is whether or not I choose to put it into my body. Why is anybody else involved in that decision?

I just emailed him...

Good job. I'd pass you a joint, but I can't. I'll just give you some rep and smoke this for you.. :p

I think it's funny when people say that cannabis today is 10 times stronger than cannabis of the 70's. There were strains in the 70's that had as much as 15-20 percent THC. By that logic, todays cannabis is apparently 150-200 percent THC? Nice try, DEA.

What pisses me off the most, is the front page news paper article that said "Cannabis: An Apology", where they said if they knew how "dangerous" cannabis is, they never would have fought for it to be legalized for medicinal use, as it just "causes additional" problems. Thousands of people, who could have pushed for it to be come legal, and have the power, such as lawyers, etc... now will believe this false information.

Obviously, we know it's bullshit, because we know the truth. We are patients and users, and we know it helps with a variety of things. But, for the people who are undecided on their position on the legality of cannabis, this front page article will just sway their decision to being against it.

Hmmm this seems to be the new horror story, diversionary tactics to distract people from what's going on around the world. A campaign of misinformation that seems to be spearheaded by papers like The Daly Mail. These sub-broadsheets that aspire to be seen as credible journalism, while running story after story gushing about te royal family. Surely they are making weed a gateway drug by these preposterous claims that its "drug peers" are class A substances? Not many people I know would link the two, ugh what is this country coming to???
