View Full Version : How Long After Topping Before Flowering?

So I have 8 gals going, 3 different strains.
3 of them (bought clones) are a big disappointment and a 1/3 of the size of the others, so Ive been desperately trying to let them catch up with the others in veg, but now I just have to flower before the room explodes.
So I topped the other 5 fairly vigorously about 5 days ago to make them branch more to make up for the small yeild the other 3 are going to give me.
All the tops are branching now, and the new shoots are maybe 1-2cms.
Can I go into flower now and count on those shoots developing enough during flower to becomes new budsites?

Anyone? I really want to go 12/12 tonite, if possible, else the room will burst soon...

I've read that once they have got over the shock (slowed growth) they are fine to flower. I've also read this can take a few days to a week....you are already on day five ;)

I would leave them about 1 wk at least before you flower. :) Good luck. :D

ya i would let the new shoots grow out a little more. Are you sure you can't veg a little more? maybe tie back some branches.

i reckon,if the shoots are growing then she's over the shock,i'd start her flowering, she'll have a growth spurt soon after flowering starts anyway, just my opinion though

I'd give a minimum of 2 weeks. 3 would be ideal but 2 is fine.

Damn, Ive set the lights to go off in an hour...Stinky, they're gonna get too big with another weeks veg...what could happen if I start now? Shouldnt those shoots continue to grow? It takes about a week for the plants to convert to flowering gradually anyway, and they continue their growth quite a bit after that? Its been 7 days now.

Well then I guess you're okay but 2 weeks is the rule of thumb. Do what you gotta do in the space you have though!

I unfortunatly Had to TOp My Main Cola off 2 weeks into flowering due to lack of space,, And growth slowed for a bit but it seems to have recovered well.
It was with a Pesky AFGAN Stinky,.,.... fuker just kept stretching like mad in flowering. It went 3 times the size what it was during VEG... the BIO GENSIS Synergy did't help in that sense... made it get so dang BIG

I top my plant's (correctly) and have never had slowed growth.I like to wait atleast 2-3 days before I kick them into flower after a clipping.
