Like these 2 mother fucking girls. i've never been this mad at 5:30 in the morning. I want to napalm the fuck out of them.

the girl in this video
ABC News: Gym Throws Out Weightlifter for Grunting (http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/OnCall/story?id=2665478&page=1)

and the girl in this video:
MSNBC Video (http://video.msn.com/v/us/msnbc.htm?g=8eb2181a-ab14-461a-992a-2b0f73b675d1)

and whoever else supports this pussy shit. That's like telling someone not to wear goggles when they're fuckign swimming. Some peopleare fucking different and require different things to optimize their performance, and or not be uncomforotable.

If you are that much of a pussy that you can't workout because someone grunts and you are intimidated by that I hope you fucking get dropped into a human sized blender.

It seems liek americans are getting more and more and more and more pussy by the fucking year, what the fuck? I swear to god stop being so fucking pussy and this country would be alot better off.

Some of them start screaming, and it's annoying.

no grunting in a gym... wtf?!? thats retarded...

someone should make a policy 'no grunting during sexual intercourse'... and then enforce it on those ideots...

I don't care what you guys say, but I support the no-grunting rule.

It's not like you can't make any noise, but it's an aspect of controlled-breathing when you lift. Unless you are benching 405 and you are exerting all your energy into the last push, I can understand screaming "OHHHHHHHHH." Then again, if you are lifting that much, you don't belong at a regular average joe gym.
Otherwise you would have no reason too. At the regular gym-goer level it's just exaguration. It's natural to grunt, but not natural to scream enough that I can their whimpers through my full-blasted ipod.

wow bongman. I hate you and now label you a huge pussy. people like you who complain over the smallest shit that really has no effect on your fucking life are retarded.

I don't think girls should be allowed to walk in high heels in the mall because I don't like the clickey click sound!!! LMFAO at your gayness.

I guess they should apologize for exerting their full effort into something they enjoy doing...

Who say I was complaining? I'm telling it how it is, and obviously you didn't comprehend one word I said, resorting to this pompous and faggy talk. If you really love power-lifting, you wouldn't go to "fitness first" and go to a place where you can loudly grunt all the fuck you want, have rubber plates, higher quality bars all the necessary tools. That's a place where grunting is excusable. Instead the tool went to a place where everyone is out of his league, and I bet my money it's mostly to show off, not do what he loves. There's no reason to scream "UGHHHHHHHHHHHH" curling 40 pounds. Little grunts are fine, because it shows you are breathing properly and are IN CONTROL. Going "UGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH" is not.

Are you calling yourself retarded btw? After all, making a post complaining about "2 motherfucking girls." This is having a huge effect on your life, hahahahaha.

03-21-2007, 10:56 AM
simply by supporting the no-grunt shit you are complaining. a simple grunt has no effect on your life whatsoever and you're just nitpicking at nothing.

there is nothing wrong with someone grunting while lifting a weight. the two go hand in hand when you get down to your last, hard reps. And even if someone wanted to grunt to try to pull pussy or look good, it has no effect whatsoever on you so stop crying.

And everyone that is above average strong doesn't want to be a fucking weight lifter and go train in an olympic gym... just better themselves. a normal gym is fine and well suited for them. Hence the heavy weights that only they can lift at every gym ever.

And I never see anyone being annoying with their grunting when i go to american family, which isn't that often admittedly, though.

And the guy did not grunt loudly. the girl simply heard him.

As a rower, I am against this rule. When you're doing a sprint, you grunt or use some explosive to get out as much air as possible as fast as possible so that you get more air faster. It's not like you're doing it to show off, you're doing it so you don't pass out from lack of oxygen, or even worse, have to stop in a race. While I don't understand screaming, grunting is fine with me. Also, isn't their alarm louder than any grunts people could be making, defeating the idea behind their policy in the first place? After all, that low key grunting must be WAY louder than some 80 db alarm.

thcbongman
03-21-2007, 11:05 AM
I support it, therefore I'm complaining? That's ridiculous. I simply discussed the topic of this thread, therefore I gave out my viewpoint. It's not I made a post saying "ALL GRUNTERS ARE FAGS, AND YOU MUST STOP." If anyone is complaining and crying, it's you. You went out of your way to make a post complaining about this guy is unfairly treated. But hey that's all right, there's no reason to not express what on your mind. I am not going to call someone a fag because they have a different opinion than me.

The gym is a crowded place where you have to show a bit of respect for others around you. You share space, equipment. It's basic etiquette. If I can hear a grunt through my ipod, it's too loud and should be toned down. Simple courtesy.

Well, yessiree. :) I have to agree that you are being a bit hypocritical here, Smoking Habit.

I agree with you as far as the stupidity and invalidity of the "no-grunting" rule. I think that it is a little extreme. Lots of people grunt. I think I probably have been heard grunting every once in a while. Mainly when I do squats or presses....BUT, like THCBongman says, if it is loud enough to get thru and iPod...that's too loud. If I hear it once, I look over and see the guy with several hundred pounds on his last rep, most of the time. I rarely, if ever, have heard someone repeatedly screaming during a work out.

Hell, it's a gym. The whole place is noisy. And their alarm IS louder than most grunts, and is way more distracting...it even has a bright blinking light. If I was on one side of the gym and I didn't hear the grunt, but some other guy across the gym heard the grunt, then pushed that stupid LUNK alarm, I'd have an issue with the club for bothering me with their loud alarm and 'blinding' light. :)

I might go to their boycott site and give an opinion. I think that's pretty much a vanilla's gym. Like the person said in the video, "...they want people who pay and then don't go to the gym." Not only HUGE guys grunt.

Hey, Smoking habit...chill out, man. Seriously. Stop calling people names...why all the anger? On dem roids? ;) Not a very good thread title.

haha I love that point. Lets complain about annoying noises then sound an even more annoying noise in protest of the original annoying noise! That'll teach em!!

I wish i knew where one of those gyms were i would go in there with the goofiest tight spandex outfit and start curling 3 pound weights and shout love making noises. It would make a great short video for a laugh.

some people do grunt just to show off, and its really annoying. I think you can tell a "I'm working out this hard and need to be making this noise" from a "I'm not really working that hard but I want to bother everyone around me and make people think I'm stonger than I am". I see both types at the gym I go to, and the fake people normally stop coming after a few weeks/months, or they realize how stupid they look and stop doing it. I can understand why some gyms may have rules like that. Those gyms just arent for people who really want to get big. It's all about who your target group is.

As I said again, it's natural to grunt, but not scream it in exaguration. There is a huge difference.

If your ipod is blasting loud enough to where i can here it, should you be kicked out too?

it sucks dude got kicked out, but that was the rule of that gym. A silly rule, but one none the less. I'm sure people find grunting annoying, i personally rather continue my workout then pay attention to what someone else is doing though.

I'm at the gym for me, and no amount of noise is going to throw me off from doing what i went to the gym for in the first place.

working on me.

03-21-2007, 06:23 PM
haha oh man...

i can see how planet fitness may be stressing a style of endurance and or toning exercises but outlawing the grunt is a joke..

whats 'judging'?..is that like mocking someone weaker under your breath with your friends or shaking your head when someone struggles with a weight you can easily do?---i think that shit is jackass activity

but another thing is what could be considered a grunt...or a weight 'drop' at that..if you hiss like the guy in the second video is it merely a matter of time before someone bitches about the hiss, calling it a grunt...

what happens if you lower your curling bar 2-4 inches from the ground and let it go is that a 'drop'?

lots of grey areas...grunt on

TheGreenFog
03-21-2007, 06:45 PM
I have to say, they seem like pretty silly rules...I mean, with the room for interpretation, like notranfer said...grey areas. Plus they HAVE rubber weights that really don't make much noise when you drop them anyway...so that shouldn't be a problem. Judging is..well...rude...but it just seems like maybe the owner was a kid who was picked on when he/she was young and skinny and wants to "protect" the others from having their already low self-esteem crushed even more. While that is a nice gesture...you kinda gotta let adults deal with those things on their own.

BUT, the rules ARE clearly stated on the wall, so if you don't like them...either follow them or go to another gym. I don't really see any grounds for a suit. Sorry, dude. Go to another gym and grunt on. :)

If your ipod is blasting loud enough to where i can here it, should you be kicked out too?

Certainly if I resisted and started whining about it. If it bothers someone, they should ask me to turn it down, which people have asked before and I comply. No big deal. It's common courtesy.

I think alot of people have misunderstood me. It doesnt bug me to the point I'm going to go out of my way to give someone a piece of my mind when someone grunts, but it's not something I want to hear when I'm pumping my weights. Expressing an opinion is only returned in hostility these days eh?

MAGnum
03-21-2007, 07:31 PM
Planet fitness has a no judgement policy and you can be banned from the gym for breaking it.. I have never heard of a no grunting rule and grunting is natural when exserting yourself so I can't see the problem with it. It would be like outlawing licking while eating a lollipop to make grunting against the rules when weight lifting. Stupid rules incite stupid people to do stupid things.

Haha there's this girl at my school who I want to kill whenever I see or hear. She's pretty fat and ugly but she goes around walking shaking her nasty ass like it's sexy or something. She always wears shirts that show off her love handles. She thinks she's the hottest thing to hit the earth when in reality everyone thinks she is quite ugly. But hey, there's nothing wrong with self esteem.

What really gets me about her though is that she lives in some rich town in MA but she thinks shes some ghetto ass puerto rican chick. It really bothers me. The most annoying thing is that whenever she speaks, she uses this voice that is clearly a fake puerto rican accent. It bothers me soo much. She thinks she's all ghetto and shit man.

Sorry just had to vent and the title of this topic reminded me of her. :smokin:

The way I see it, rules are rules, and if you don't like those rules, either go elsewhere or buy some equiptment yourself, and move on in life. Not everyone can be happy in the same establishment.

There are hundreds of different gyms out there, so I don't see the big deal. Just go somewhere else.

Angry original thread post too. You should lighten up a little because trust me, there are much more difficult rules and obstacles you will have to face.

I think the news are just running out of murders or dead babies or dead celebrities to write about, so they resort to random shit to make a big deal about like this. I really don't care if some random weight lifter was banned from a gym for grunting. I don't care at all...

i remember in high school i took weight training two years in the row, and i had to share the gym with the freakin football team. to say the least, i sorta got used to the grunting when they were doing the gnar gnar power thrusts or whatever theyre called. and when they bench, it sounds like a murder in process.

it gets annoying, but to exert energy like that..i dunno, it just happens. but like someone said, if youre lifting like that you shouldnt be in a typical gym.

as for low key grunting, everyone does that a bit im sure. if im pushing my limits or maybe trying to raise my bench max, i grunt some. no biggie.

but its not like they have a way of saying "so and so decibel level grunts allowed" so its either all grunts or no grunts allowed. they gotta do what they gotta do to keep patrons happy. its just the way it is.

after all if you cant handle the rules, find a new gym. its not like theyre limited.
