Well, I just drilled my bottle in preperation for my homemade glass water bong. Using a Arizona Ice tea bottle...

I was planning on suber heating a 40oz until the glass gets goopy (with my propane torch), and then letting it sag to form an inverted nipple. Going for a farily large nip. Then I figure on drilling a small hole in the center, and claying it in place on a stem.

Anybody done anything like this before? Any tips on getting the glass to sag like that? I've only been able to do it once, and that was an accident a while ago :P

The trick is to warm it gradually... Actually thats the easy part, its gotta cool gradually too, or it will likely crack!

What I'm having trouble with is getting the glass to flow. I will get it cherry red and it'll be fairly soft to the touch (of a heated metal poker), but it wont start flowing... Maybe I just need to torch it longer...

So far I've had no luck reproducing the glass nipple... And I'm outta glass pieces to use...

This project will go on hold until more glass is aquired, but I definately am looking forward to getting it done!

hey buck268, if you can get map gas instead of propane it will get hotter much faster.
most plumbing supply houses have map gas. they use it for soldering brass fittings. good luck either way.

I'm actually gonna get a MAPP tank for my prop./multi torch to toast my LCA bolts, so I'll give it a try :)
