Yea so, I'm sittin here burnin up a little somethin in my room watchin some law & order. So I'm thinkin to myself during one of the scene..Would it be sweet to serve jury duty high? Personally, I have no idea. I'm only seventeen and don't even know what jury duty really is let alone what it's like. But yea what do you guys think?

Wow.. I'm lit :rasta:

Yo that'd be weak. But they'd really have to be real serious to drug test every single jury member ever so I dunno

Actually, my friend got jury duty, and we were going to smoke beforehand, but the plans fell through. I think it'd be hilarious, you'd space out and completely forget what is going on XD

I dont think it would be a good idea. It might make the experience more interesting for you, but someones fate would be in your hands and it wouldnt be fair to them. If you have jury duty you should be paying attention to what you're there for.

I think it would be a waste of weed. :p How boring would it be to sit in a courtroom and hear people argue back and forth about shit I don't care about.

So nah, I'd save the tokin for afterward, plus you're there help decide someones fate. I know I wouldn't want a stoned jury deciding was is best for me.

nah no drug tests, ive been twice..

and yea it would probably be a waste, you dont even know if your going to be on an actual jury unless you get selected to be a juror and have to go back for a second day of court shit...and im sure if the balif smelled some reeeefer on you there might be some consequences..buut i dunnoo

thas the dumbest idea i have ever heard sorry to be rude but someone life is depended on u for a fair trial and u toke like its a joke and also what if u get caught? u lose ur job and people might sue u cuz trials in the past theyll say u were high and wasnt giving them a fair trial

i would only toke beforehand if it was on marijuana related charges, just so the defendant could look at the jury and see his/her fellow stoners watching his back.

too bad they don't tell you what it's about until you show up :(

I think being high on the right stuff could help me sort out through the issues.

My attitude is that anybody on trial is guilty - of something. Better that a hundred innocent go to jail than one guilty person go free. :hippy:

Dude how can you say that? You would seriously rather have one hundred innocent human beings guilty of no crime go to jail instead of one guilty person going free? That is fucked up. The guilty person might have been arrested for posession. And you would rather 100 people who are innocent go to jail than let him free? I hope if i am ever on trial that you are not on jury duty. INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

On a side note i think Jury Duty would be really fun. You would get to see how the legal system works and be able to participate in it.

I bet they would all be spaced out and shit. Then when it comes time to decide...the first thing someone says is "I bet a bag of weed he will get ____ years"

I got this shit for my first time in May. Pretty slim chance I will be picked, since I'm young, but we'll see.

And to the 'everyone is guilty' idiot:

"It's not what you know, it's what you can prove".

Hmm..didn't think I'd get so many negative responses..

But yea I understand it's someone's life on the line but I mean I think a nice fat blunt beforehand would put my head in the right spot to really think critically about the case.. If I wasn't high it would be hard for me to see past having to waste my time serving

I went once, couldn't smoke during obviously but id smoke tons beforehand. How the hell else am I supposed to just sit there for all those hours?

I doubt me using marijuana would impact my ability to make rational decisions. On the other hand if I was all bitchy each day from not smoking THAT would probably impair my judgment.

Yea, that's pretty messed up. Your logic might make sense, but let's focus on your first statement:

"My attitude is that anybody on trial is guilty - of something."

That's not correct, innocent people can be charged. Your statement claims that EVERY SINGLE person who goes to court is guilty of something (I'm guessing you came to this idea using abduction logic). However, I can show you examples of where this is not true. So it's false.

So go take your substandard philosophical babble somewhere else please, it's very disrupting of the topic at hand. Oh, and:

"Better that a hundred innocent go to jail than one guilty person go free. :hippy:"

The hippies would be saying the exact opposite of that statement... that's kind of insulting. This is a cannabis forum after all...

Jury duty is a serious responsibility.
I wouldn't even sit on a jury with cold medicine in my system.
Grow up.

"I also heard you can get out by saying ure a racist".
You can get in a lot of trouble in NYC for making statements like that ("I'm a racist") in a jury-selection room. I've seen it happen.

"That is extremely fucked up, I hope you are seriously blazed or joking".
I was half-joking. I've served several times, and hate it. I feel that it is an infringement on my freedom. They should have professional jurors, who know the law.

Sometimes the judge will say, "Anybody that does not understand English please stand up.". Naturally, those that do stand are not dismissed.

People have to serve Jury Duty. Thats why its a trial by your peers and not other people who know nothing about your situation. If you were on trial commiting a hate crime against a certaing group of people, would you like that group of people to be in the jury? Probably not.

I don't need lessons on life from people less than a third of my age, and those who quote idiots like "GS" in their sig.

When i served on a grand jury i continued to blaze everyday. Then again a grand jury is a little different. We had to vote if there was enough evidence for a case to go to court. If we indicted* they would go to court and have a fair trial, if we voted no the case would be pushed aside until more evidence could be found. I do not think me being slightly high had affected my votes in anyway. In fact our votes were unanimous the entire time cause the cases were realy straight forward.
