View Full Version : My TMNT review

Hey guys. Saw TMNT tonight at an advanced screening. I was a massive turtlehead back in the day (take that any way you will) so was hyped up. Here goes my geeky analogy as a turtles fan:

So yeah, the actual turtles are spot on. Raphael is to the turtles as Ajax was to the warriors, fully sick! That's pretty much the only good point. The CGI is pretty subpar and there is a total lack of energy in the fight scenes, which are few and far between (with the exception of a pretty good one-on-one between Leonardo and Raphael). The story is also total nonsense, the main plot being completely unrelated to the turtles in any way, shape or form. The script is also utter drivel, with a constant stream of ridiculous one liners taking a front seat before the action.

So there you have it. Total anticlimax, but I would still recommend a baked visit to your local cinema if you grew up with TMNT every Saturday morning.

I was never a huge TMNT fan, but I did watch them occasionally and had a bunch of toys. I was more of a Power Ranger kid. Sad, but true. I remember one time McDonalds had Power Ranger toys with happy meals. I would be pissing myself when we went through a drive through hoping to get a new one.
I can actually say same to that one. Sucks that the movie sucks.

Yeah i got to agree, the original films (i think there were three) weren't up to much. I loved the cartoon though and will probably watch this film at some point.

Transformers will most likely be a cheese fest with PG style action. Can you imagine any of the scenes in the trailer actually making up a decent narrative? I'll bet anyone the scene with the transformer coming out of the swimming pool will end with comic relief from the little girl (something like "Mummy, the pool is broken" or some shit). I'd still recommend TMNT as it's a quality reinvention of the turtles, who are now full on ninja style, free running crazy bastards. Just as long as you can put up with some atrociously bad one-liners and tacky looking humans.

I was a huge Ninja Turtles fan too. I remeber when the first one came out. Actually, I watched it last weekend on TV, but sadly I feel asleep. :p

Anyways, the new one doesn't interest me one bit. I'm no longer in that phase so I probably won't bother seeing it. I'll leave it for the kiddies to see as it looks well, like a kids movie. There is nothing worse then going a movie theater with kids. :D They are always running up and down the isles, getting up and down, and flipping their cell phones on. It looks like a sea of flashlights and is very annoying when they are getting up every 2 minutes.

If I do see it, I'll just rent it or watch it on TV. Pay full price for this flick? Fuck that!

I did go see 300 for the second time though. Now that movie is worth seeing on the big screen.

Ninja Turtles was huge.. One of the most successful marketing tools in the history of the westernized world to date. Cartoons, Videos, Video Games, Toys, Sleeping bags...ect. Everyone was rocking the Turtles back in the day. I still wonder what made it so SUCCESSFUL? In todays world a cartoon would never reach that level of success.

But just like every good thing, It'll die over time...

...brought back a lot of memories.. I'm just glad they brought this thing out of the grave..even if the movie sucks atleast they brought back attenion to this cartoon.

Rapheal, Michealangelo (sp?), Donetello, and Leonordo. Splinter of course, and Shredder was the bad guy. :D

I still remeber all those names. I can't spell them, but I know them. :p

I still have the original toys, and even had rocking ass PG's once too! It came with a ninja headband and everything.

I loved it, it was what I expected. This movie was great and the graphics were done very nicely
