Ok so I've alwys started my seedlings off in my hydro system at 1/4 strength nutes....300/ppm and they have done very well. HOWEVER.... they have been about 80% bagseed so that may have something to do with it BECAUSE
I now have a couple Master Kush-x and Crystal Limit in my setup....about 2 weeks old and they have NOT BEEN HAPPY with the nutes which I have backed off and backed off. :( At this point they seem happy on 150ppm. Perhaps these fussy bluebloods have recognized that when it comes to growing I am a peanuthead and they are trying to pull one over on me.
Finally my question: should I pull the nutes completely until they are at 4-5 nodes (right now they are at two) or should I keep them on the 150ppm thing since they seem happy with it? If I go straight water what should I start them at when I do go to nutes?
Another question.....when you guys just use water....I'm assuming that means no Cal Mag either....you use RO?....and just ph it?
Thanks for any knowledge passed on. :)

Hey sis ,
When my beans are in r/w and not in buckets yet I add 2-3 drops of ea. Micro-Grow-Bloom and cal-mag , I don't have the luxury of R.O water yet . I p/h the gal. of mix though . I honestly have no idea as far as ppm. - our water is 80ppm. right from the tap though and w/ just a cpl. drops of ea. I dont see ppm. being over 150 .
Are the plants / cubes in the w/f yet ?
I dont put r/w cubes in w/f -buckets until they have atleast 4 nodes on them , till this happens we keep em in lil stooufers mac-n- cheese containers w/ just enough of said mix to cover the bottom of the container so r/w can wick up the mix as needed .
The 2 new indica strains I started in soil are doing great , but 2 sativas Im trying to get to grow are really starting to make me mad too .
Keep us posted

If they are happy with 150ppm then dont change a thing. I dont add any nutes in my cloner and when they root thats what I start them out at is 150-200ppm. Hope this helps.

My BB strain hated nutes until about 4-5 nodes, once she started to flower there was no stopping her, i upped the nutes about 300 ppms a week until i hit 1800ppms half way through flower where she sits now, Alot of the strains u buy dont like nutes for a couple weeks i would up the nutes when you can see that there getting big enough to handle it, ussually i dont go abouve 800ppms in vegg my BB when put into flower was at 600ppms a foot tall. So i mean its how well you understand your plants growth.

i agree with jack; it just depends on the plant. If you watch your plant closely you can tell when it is getting too much food (darker green foliage); contrariwise, you can see when it's hungry if it gets a lighter green.
I think if you begin introducing nutrients very slowly (i.e. start at 150 ppm and work your way up) you can be alright, but not until the plant has 3-4 nodes. It really just depends on the plant, so get to know yours.

nice of everyone to answer...all good opinions. you really should not nute until 4-5 nodes. a few drops...150ppm. I use ph'd water and superthrive 2 drops per liter.
