Painting bulbs?

would it be alright to paint my 250W infrared bulb blue, provide excellent ventilation and do everything else correctly? I think it would work and it really has to as I cant find any decent sites for bulbs. the bulb provides enough heat but not the kind of light spectrum therefore by painting it blue with bulb paint it will produce the right kind of colours I reckon. Am I a dumbass?

try High Tech Garden Supply (http://www.htgsupply.com) for some lights. And I don't think painting it would be a very good idea since the paint would probably burn off after it gets hot.
