View Full Version : Cannabis has taken a part of my brain

I just noticed when I type or even write something, I leave out complete words of what I'm writing. I don't mean a letter, I mean an entire word. It's like I'm writing faster than my brain can compute. Anyone else have problem? this problem I mean. ;)

I do, but I've had it long before smoking pot... It's one of the plethora of neurological symptoms I'm having right now.
My brain processes thoughts faster that I can speak, it's just my speech is very affected. Thank pot my neurologist says my bi weekly toking has very little if anything to do with it

Sometimes I'll read words one ahead of the other and miss certain words by doing so. I don't know if it is the weed, but it's weird sometimes. I have to read a sentence more than once sometimes so I can compute it.

I have that very same problem, too, and I'm not a cannabis smoker, just an advocate. I think it's because of the processing vs. typing issue Purple Banana identified. And in me, I think it's also because I have an as-yet-undiagnosed degenerative brain disease, possibly attributable to middle age or stress, that's rapidly eating holes in my gray matter.

I had that problem a lot before I cut back on smoking. For some of us I guess it really is the weed, but some of us are just naturally retarded:areindeer:

That's a bite, BG... I had an appointment with my NEW PCP the other week (GREAT guy, finally I've found a good doc!) and he casually mentioned "Yes, I've had a woman in here before with similar symptoms... She had a malignant tumor in her frontal lobe, but I don't think that's the issue with you..."
I looked at him, and was like "Oh, gee, THANKS..."
They found a few bilateral lesions on the white matter and a few mysterious indentations of my dura and pia mater (during an MRI in 2004 for ataxia caused by a reaction to Flexeril), thought it was MS, but that wasn't the case. I still can't help but think about whether or not they're causing my problems, but so far, none of my doctors can figure it out.
Maybe a odd form of dyslexia, Chowder? Stress, maybe?

Glad to hear you've seen a new and better doc now, Purple B! That is great news, and I know you're relieved to have a decent one who'll listen.
Have they, in what testing you've had so far, checked to make sure your cerebellum and brain stem are not squeezed too tightly down in the posterior fossa region of your head? That is, have they ruled out type I Arnold-Chiari malformation?

Yeah! same, except Idon't tell my doctor about it. I forget a lot of things to talk to my doctor about.

Can't say that they have, BG, but I have a neuro appt. on the 20th, so I'll be sure to suggest that

Ancient crone as I am ;) , I'm a bit forgetful too. I figured out what to do about it- I handle it like I do shopping. I start a list about a week before I see the doc/go shopping. I keep my list on the fridge with a pen tied to it, so it's easy to use. Just jot down whatever you think about that might be a good question. Take the list with you! - Granny:hippy:

I can't recall that ever happening to me. The only part of my brain cannabis took from me, is my frontal giveafuck lobe.

It wouldn't be stress. I have little stress in my life at the moment.
My mother once told me that this sometimes happens to her as well. It could be a form of dyslexia I suppose, but it's not so bad that it effects my daily life. It does take longer for me to comprehend what I just read. I read it, but I don't take in the words. I've always had a case of ADHD where I read the words, but don't picture what the words are saying.
I don't know, but it's weird sometimes. I'm guessing I do it because of lack concentration.

same only on the net though,
Begin to read out loud or simply reread your post before you click the "post reply" button. I've seen text on trading cards that left out entire words, I thought "How unprofessional!"

There's a remedy for that too. Think before you speak!
