Eyedea's album "First Born" is pretty sick and has some trippy beats. Not really psychadelic but I would give it a listen if you like hip-hop.

Electric Music for the Mind and Body, by Country Joe and the Fish.
THE classic psychedelic album of the 60's was "tested" under various states of consciousness and, years ago, Joe McDonald said it's "guaranteed". Make of that what you will, but I'm not going there. :p
P.S. IMO, this thread was better off in the lounge, where more people would read and respond to it. Whatever.

I assume you already have Pink Floyd, I mean what stoner doesn't right? Klaatu is good. While not exactly psychadelic, it is very trippy and definitely progressive Lateralus by Tool (actually my favorite album ever). Zeppelin could fit the description of music you're looking for.

you guys are forgetting the finest band in the land The GRATEFUL DEAD. there 60s stuff is the most pshycadelic, but in the 70s they really came into a great form, i suggest listening to any shows from 70-74 (espcially 72-74)really some of the golden years of dead.

Psychedelic/Kraut rock type stuff.
Check out Black Widow too they're pretty cool.
If you're into kinda trancey/ psychedelic stuff I highly recommend Shpongle and Younger Brother too. :)

Shpongle is THE best psychedelic electronic band I've ever heard.
Boards of canada is another GREAT psychedelic electronic band,
Future sound of london, though check out their other name Amorphous Androgynous they put out some very beautiful psychedelic... µ-Ziq is a very good electro artist... I dunno, the definition of "psychedelic" to me just means very different. Anything that feels traditionally spiritual or expiremental in terms of structure and synth work. And as for Shpongle... There is nothing like shpongle. His music(its a two man band, but everyone knows it's Simon Posford who has the Posford Touch) is layered in ways that takes many many listens to truly hear everything. And yet it retains its clarity enough to make the most powerful stuff.
Acid mothers temple is to me, the most "traditional" sounding psychadelic music you can find. Check out Yoshimi And Yuka as well, they put out a very wonderful, happy album to smoke to that creates this feeling of playing in the mud when you like 5.
If you want some REALLY fucked up psychadelic (not as in scary, just... wierd.. ) Look up Renaldo and The Loaf. Fing crazy. Or The Residents, I think they work together. Gong is probably my favorite psychadelic/jazz band. They just have such a crazy spacy happy sound. The exact type of thing I want to hear in the background of a good shroom party.
check out Secret Chiefs 3 for a more eastern sound, very well composed, and
Coil for some wonderful different electronic sounds. Like Music To Play In the Dark.
And finally... Try this. When I get really good weed, and my tolerance is low, I like to turn my room into a black light stoner heaven and play two or three different songs at a time. I find that by closing my eyes, even stuffing my nose, my other senses get stronger, and weed already gives your mind and ears extra sensory abilities. So, find two songs that flow together in some way (a lot of psychadelic music doesn't have much structure, you don't really need structure) and play. You'll be able to feel both songs at the same time, cycle through all of the different instruments/beats and still not realize you're drooling bad enough to cause wood rot.

Psychedelic/Kraut rock type stuff.
Halleluwah, especially.
Don't forget MAGMA! Mekanik Destruktiw Kommandoh!
If you want psychedelic music though, do the following:
(a) Go to allmusic (http://www.allmusic.com)
(b) Usenet - alt.binaries.music.mp3.1960s
This is an extremely active group where people post lots of obscure, out of print psychedelia - by bands from the period who were obscure even back then. Some of what is posted is completely out of print, and while a lot of it is tired, some of is it is shockingly good - to uncommercial even for the flower power generation.
Someone mentioned the 13th Floor Elevators - definitely. Try their buddies, The Golden Dawn, also of the 60s psych garage scene.
If you want new music - that is, obscure stuff by bands you've never even heard of, alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.1960s is a great place to snarf some great stuff.

The group "Spirit" from the 60's is one of my favorite psyrock bands, Randy California (guitarist) was even a part of Jimi Hendrix's early group "Jimmy James and the Blue Flames" check out self titled "Spirit" and "12 dreams of Dr. Sardonicus" Spirit (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit_%28band%29)

If you want a great acid trip of a an album, download Brainticket's Cottonwoodhill.
It's semi-krautrock, but beautiful riffs, and the last three tracks slowly build upon each other with this female voice describing the most intense acid trip.
It's a very good album, and very nice to smoke to.
Uplifting too.
Another good (but not nearly as good as cottonwoodhill) album by brainticket is Psychonaut.
old stuff
bardo pond...
Listen to some psychedelic trance. I would suggest Opium Nuts - Back to 2004. Great, great set. When I blaze up and listen to that, I almost feel like I've been sucked into the world of the music.

i would start with The Grateful Dead, i started listening about 2 years ago and now i have collected over 3500 songs from them. By far the greatest american rock band. If you looking for some new music check out Umphrey's Mcgee, they do some really trippy shit in their jams. Disco Biscuits are also a new band, that play trippy live music that sounds like techno when they get into their jams. You cannot forget Phish, those dudes took a lot of acid. Phish is a bit of an aquired taste, i would sugest smoking a fat one before hand (its always better that way.) You know when Eric Clapton asked how it felt to be the greatest guitar player alive, he said, ask Trey (from phish.)

the parts in their songs when they are singing usually suck but they always produce some intense jams. Also look for Santa Cruz Hemp All Stars its a few guys from sound tribe sector 9, the keyboardist from disco biscuits and some other random dudes and its really tight, theyve only played together a few times and its just straight up improv they dont have songs. biscoradio.com is a sweet site its streaming radio and you vote for what concert you want next but ints not just tdb they also have some concerts with simon posford, younger brother, future rock, just a bunch of random shows
